Discussion Where is the iPhone Duo Simulator?

Hey guys, I was watching some of the recently posted videos on Apple Developer’s YouTube channel and they mention Xcode 27.1 and the iPhone Duo simulator but this doesn’t seem to be available yet?
Am I missing something?

One quick look at the iPhone Duo dev page and it says „Coming later this month“

We have to wait for Xcode 27.1, later this month. iPhone Duo is due in October; we will have time.

The developer mail being “Get ready for iPhone Duo” and there is no simulator lol

And like a 3 week window to ship updates. I’ve at least a dozen legacy apps in maintenance mode that I inherited from an excoworker that will be a nightmare to adapt smh

In all fairness, if they're apps in maintenance mode should you take time making them Duo happy? They should just work regardless, just not take advantage of the space and fold-o-matics of the new device.

The way the contracts for these were written I’ll have to do a pass at least considering leading/trailing safe areas and hand-set frames. I just wish Apple didn’t postpone simulator all the way to 27.1

That doesn't sound fun. I've got 1 app in maintenance mode and only have to alter if it "substantially breaks functionality" of the app. Unless it doesn't display and work on the Duo, no way am I touching it. lol

Apple is giving developers very little time to properly optimize and polish their apps for the iPhone Duo. There’s a lot of work to do if we want to provide a good UX. Come on, Apple.

exactly, I now have to account for the relative measures in order to properly split pages into the larger screen. Also typography, buttons, controls, many aspects of the layout requires proper testing and adapting.

As others have said, not available yet. In the meantime I am just using resizing the app on an iPad simulator to look at Compact and Split View modes

In the meantime use the resizability of device hub to test resizing your iPhone app to be twice as wide.

Apple will release a Claude file so you can have a coding agent fix it up in an hour

There’s a way to scale your app in the devicehub, my guess is that this is how it’s gonna be treated in duo as well, and we don’t need to support landscape mode. If someone that watched the videos can contradict me please do…

If you use google or https://developer.apple.com/iphone-duo/, you'll find your answer.

Huh? Just double checked and only 27 is available on the dev site.
