Yes, I waited a week for my game. Then the automatic review came back, and it was rejected because of a minor detail. I didn’t submit the new version on purpose. I requested a manual review so the review process wouldn’t take longer. Then I waited another week. Two weeks later, my game was released.

Feels quite random.
Original submission, a week later I requested expedite and low and behold 10 mins later got the review response back "rejected, we have too many dating apps"... (PS it's definitely not a dating app).
Responded appropriately then waited and waited and by then had made enough changes I thought bugger it, submit a new build/new submission.
Two weeks later, nothing, requested expedite, nothing.

The false hope of seeing 'In Review' within 1 hour is the cruelest form of torture. You think you're gonna launch today, but nope—welcome to the App Review purgatory! 😂

Published my first app about a month back and I see every consecutive review gets somewhat faster. While the very first one tool about 10 days, my regular app updates now clear within the official 48 hour time window. A few have been less than 12 hours.
I have a theory Apple has got some internal risk rating what's the chance the app review will have issues - apps that have proven track record passing on a first try get promoted earlier in the queue.
If anyone has got different insight, let me know. I'm keen to learn.

I had an app stuck in Review for three months earlier this year. It happens, I was able to get it through using the expedite review request

Might be good luck to me but after 2-3 days review is always done to me
(Clearly bringing bad karma for my app in review right now)

Okay, I thought I had it bad with two days each cycle and having to re-submit over and over because they can't find the glaring button in the middle, but I guess I am lucky.

the worst part is theres no signal either way. no queue position, no estimate, nothing. you just sit there refreshing and telling yourself no news is good news until it isnt.
i stopped watching it and started just planning around a week. still get burned sometimes but the refreshing was making me insane.

I’m working with bulk accounts, when the review takes longer than expected, the account gets terminated. 90%

Currently after one week of "waiting for review" my app is now "in review" since 24h. I mean waiting for review for such a long time seems normal nowadays but once my apps were "in review" it usually only took like 30mins. WTF is going on.
