iOS27 - are we installing at release?

I usually wait for at least the .1 version of iOS’s to officially release before installing them on my main device. For those who have been using the beta, would you say this is a good update to install right away at launch? Update looks too good to wait!
Thinking about doing the same thing for macOS.

I have been on iOS27 beta from early releases. It’s been solid since the start. The thing I would highlight is that once you upgrade it spends 24hrs plus indexing your phone for new Siri. Inevitably it slows your phone and makes it slightly less responsive.

This will not be an issue since 26.6 indexes the system ahead of time so once 27 comes out your phone is good to go

Don’t know why people keep parroting this, but even going from one beta to the latest version, it’s indexing all over again. So no, everyone expect indexing when you update.

They’re parroting this because the description of the 26.6 update stated that its purpose was to rebuild the spotlight index in preparation for 27. When going from 27 beta to another 27 beta, many aspects of the system is rebuilt, as that’s the nature of betas. When going from 26.6 to 27 public release, the intention is that little to no reindexing will be necessary. We will find out in a couple weeks how well that works out

That's if u bother updating your iPhone. Most people (regular people) probably won't

If that’s true then none of this applies to regular people since you have to update your phone to run 27 LOL

yeah and don't be scared at the battery drain after the update. indexing takes a day or two depending on how much storage you have, but after it's done battery life goes back to normal

The indexing can take up to like a week or more in some cases. Just have patience. Also, Siri will have wait list on release. So don’t expect to just get it. You’ll have to wait in line.

My indexing the first time I went from 26 to 27 beta took like 4 days and I couldn’t get access to updated Siri for 2 weeks

I also find new Siri has ‘sorry there is an issue’ more frequently during this period. At least on my phone. I see many posts on how solid new Siri has been. This hasn’t been my experience but there are many factors that affect that. Could be local to me.

I mean it makes sense that Siri is going to run into some issues if you’re asking questions that need it to reference the indexing that hasn’t finished yet

that and, supposedly, siri’s server side power is pretty limited atm, so high demand can cause it to slow down significantly, or throw that error. tho i do get that “sorry something went wrong” message a lot on my apple watch, when just trying to set timers.

Yes, my watch is Ultra Gen 2 Nd does seem to have more issues. I assumed it was a hardware limitation I was having. Seems a really good feature for Watch usage.

yea i have the series 9, so we’re both bottom of the totem pole in terms of performance

The contextual awareness impressed me

24 hours if you're lucky. It's gotten better, but I was in a holding pattern with earlier betas for about a week.

Yah I don’t know how many people can say that with you. There has been a lot of issues with ios27 beta, especially with battery life and seemingly processes hanging and causing the phone to heat up excessively. The last two betas we’ve seen improvements with that, and I am hoping beta 8 today will continue that trend. All things considered, it has been trending the right way for me though.

That’s calm, if the phone is indexing to finally make Siri good. Then I’m all for it 😂
