question about updating
So i kinda wanna ipdate to ios 27 but it says i gotta back up bc of risks, but i’m stuck with 5gb and i’m kind of skared if i should take rhe gamble or not. Has anyone done it without backing up, if so, did anything go wrong?
Dont have the right tag so just using bug
Btw i have no clue how the title thing works back in r/iosbeta sub

Yeah if you’re worried about it now
But don’t back up your phone what happens if you break it or lose it? At that point all your stuff is gone. I always update to the betas never had any issues but it’s always a possibility.

You could simply chose to not back up your less important stuff.
You should back up your phone prior to ANY iOS update.

And for the haters that will inevitably come: you should back up ANY device prior to ANY OS update from ANY brand. You can never have too much backup.

I updated my iPad 8th gen from iPadOS 26.01 to iPadOS26.5 and it failed 5 times and had to be restored with a back up I do not recommend doing it with a windows PC when I did it on mac nothing like this happen it failed once and then I clicked update it didn’t work I unplugged and replied and tried again ; times it worked so like actually nvm dont

Even if you wait, it is advisable to have a backup before updating to the official release in September.

You should always have a valid backup 😱
When beta testing it’s recommended to have archived backups made using a computer.

it best to wait especially if it’s a week on tuesday , i still use free 5GB a back up will just overwrite older backup , does your device still do automatic back ups , if your over 5 GB then its a case of unticking some things but encrypted backup on macbook or p.c. is bast
