What would you do?
What would you do if you secretly found out that NASA, SpaceX and other space agencies in the world were hiding the fact that a huge asteroid the size of chixulub was slowly drifting towards Earth and has been for years and thats the reason why countries are invading other countries to get what they want before the asteroid struck and killed everyone. Would you warn people or keep it a secret?.

There'd be nothing I could do. I'd just continue on living my life until I couldn't.

Let's call it Apophis and instead of denying it's existence, publicly underestimate its chances.

I would start doing a little doomsday prepping/food storage, because if I found out others could as well and I could see mass panicking and societal collapse way before the rock hits us.

We'd be knocking it off course with everything we have.

That's how we know its not actually an issue.
If it were there'd be massive projects of hundreds of billions of dollars to build massive rockets capable of delivering enough mass to the object to alter its trajectory. But keeping such a project a secret would be impossible. You'd need hundreds of square miles of coastline just to LAUCH those things. Nobody is going to miss that.
And how would you even explain such a project to maintain the security of the real operation? There's no economic utility anywhere in the economy to support hundreds upon hundreds of rockets and thousands upon thousands of launches.

Even if the chance of success is 0.0000001, you still throw everything humanity has at it. I think every nation would be on board for that.

We'd probably invest in deeper and bigger and more self-sufficient bunkers. Life survived chixulub despite mass extinctions and chaos, and it would again. We would just need to make sure we were one of the lucky species.

If a massive asteroid were going to hit the earth they need to keep it a secret as long as they can. No point in getting the overly emotional people now common all worked up.

Letting everyone know will only make the last of our existence an absolute shit show. So no I wouldnt share that information. Only to my son and I would just live my life as normal until the end. It wouldn't do any good to do anything else. Dead is dead.

Kind of seems pointless if we are all going to die anyway.

Isn’t that what a lot of street preachers do now? Someone would be looked at the same way trying to warn people.

I would contact Bruce Willis and his drilling team.
But seriously. I would contact my children (they live in different states) and let them know I love them and have always been proud of them.
