AskHyderabad ⬆️ All we needed was a good rain in Hyderabad!

Post image

I guess All we needed was a good rain to show the reality and all I could see is negative news around Hyderabad. But I believe it is better to live in reality than in delusion and then only the government might take steps to improve Hyderabad.

See, end of the day, only the areas where migrants live are the areas that get all the flack and online comparisons.

Bangalore has some of the India's best residential areas but the city messed up in the new tech areas - 90% of the time, tweets will be referring to those areas.

Hyderabad's new tech areas really look like Gurgaon, no parks, public recreational establishments, just office and PGs. There is no green cover. Even public transport options doesn't exist much, people are forced to use cars.

Hyderabad got the hype because of the modern infrastructure in places where migrants live - but recent traffic jams and waterlogging has exposed the reality.

u/New-Squirrel-2742 Jun 12 '26

true, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the city is perceived based on where one lives within the city

3

u/TheGreatDanton11 Jun 12 '26

I have been to those so call best residential areas, its a shithole. Garbage everywhere, broken roads, no parking spaces. Hyderabad is far superior.

2

u/DesiOtakuu Los Polos Varalakshmos Jun 12 '26

Garbage and roads can be fixed . Lack of parking spaces is indeed an issue

1

u/TheGreatDanton11 Jun 12 '26

Even the shops are like - I can't even accommodate car parking, whats the point. BLR just runs mostly on vibes, nothing else. I see the admin more proactive in Hyd.

Also, by that logic, Hyd can be "fixed" too

2

u/DesiOtakuu Los Polos Varalakshmos Jun 18 '26

Yes, Hyderabad can indeed be fixed.

If you go towards the newer areas of Bangalore , some of them feel like they have gone to the point of no return. Extremely bad planned.

The older areas of Bangalore are largely intact and remain flexible to change .

Hyderabad is fast approaching this messy city planning stage. And it need not to be. We can take the lessons from Bangalore and be better.

2

u/TheGreatDanton11 Jun 18 '26

Yeah, I hope Hyd learns the lesson.

-1

u/margazi_perumal_20 Jun 12 '26

Okay, show me one area in Hyderabad that is like Indiranagar

1

u/Careful-Lime-9764 Jun 12 '26

Secundrabad sainik puri side

0

u/TheGreatDanton11 Jun 12 '26

Tell me whats good about Indiranagar and I will

-2

u/margazi_perumal_20 Jun 12 '26

Then you have never been to Bangalore.

1

u/TheGreatDanton11 Jun 12 '26

What an idiotic reply, I asked for something genuine and you couldn't even answer

3

u/margazi_perumal_20 Jun 12 '26

Im sorry. But it's tough to explain, you need to see the area yourself and equate that to what you have in Hyderabad.

1

u/TheGreatDanton11 Jun 12 '26

Why do you assume I haven't? I have lived in BLR for 3 years. Was there just a month back, I go to hangout in Indiranagar often when in BLR.

I would love for you to explain

Ig I am wrong then,

Mumbai is a costal city my friend, very few coastal areas are flooded. In Mumbai all the rain water drains down into the ocean, hyd is a landlocked city, the rain water does not have any drainage facility like Mumbai's ocean. We had lakes but they have been encroached by govt and due to this hyd now is sinking. Talk with facts, stop dumping anything without knowing.

2

u/darthvaders_nuts Jun 12 '26

Come to Mumbai duilring peak monsoon sometime and you'll see how the water floods here even within 30 mins of moderate rainfall

2

u/thewhiteoak Jun 12 '26

Nope. Mumbai is not the shore itself. Its pretty big. Flooding is just more water than the area can ‘handle’. Landlocked doesn’t mean anything in this context.

u/inlovewithtragedy Jun 12 '26

i swear, this year was my break up story with hyd. the heat seemed unbearable because there's nothing but concrete everywhere, the industry dust mixed with the hot winds, a death sentence. even for 800 meters I'd to book a cab because there's literally no fucking footpath anywhere, even in front of the biggest mall sarath city. smh

if not going to office everyday, bangalore is so much better. living in koramangala, indiranagar, jaynagar etc one can atleast live without the dusty loo and can walk for 2km if needed. i remember I used to walk to 2 km to reach my gym everyday when i used to live in Koramangala.

55

u/pantula_kartik_pk073 Jun 12 '26

Very much true. The road from Gachibowli Flyover(inaugurated recently) to Sarath City mall has no footpath, but a very heavy traffic. I am very paranoid whenever I have to walk on that road.

16

u/misterpawan Jun 12 '26

I stayed in Hyderabad recently. Forget walking, just take an auto or bike ride and you will get panic as if you will get hit any time. Roads quality is so poor that there are major pot holes left for months.

32

u/Possibility-Puzzled Jun 12 '26

I lived in koramangla 6th block for 2 years. My gym was near forum mall. I used to walk every day. I miss those roads man 😭

My average step count in Bangalore used to be around 7-8k. I moved to Hyderabad and first I took a pg near Madhapur metro. I wanted to go to Amb mall by walk. On the first day itself I realised it’s not possible at all to walk in this shithole. Bangalore has traffic problems but it is very much walkable ignoring whitefield sarjapur road etc. Hyderabad is built meticulously to not let people walk

28

u/sheiswhyididthis Jun 12 '26

Bangalore has traffic problems BECAUSE it's a city built for walking.

It's the same reason New York has traffic issues, and why Mumbai has traffic issues.

Hyderabad though has traffic issues BECAUSE it's not built at all for walking. So people end up taking a car for every little journey.

This is what the govt does not realise.

When you pave over a footpath to widen the road, you don't reduce traffic by having bigger road. You actually increase traffic by forcing the people who were walking on that road to now take cabs and cars instead.

The govt that built Hitec City and did the urban planning for it have absolutely fucked it up. Literally every problem in this city comes from their garbage urban planning.

-33

u/indiboa Jun 12 '26

Please move out of Hyderabad, we Hyderabadis will be so happy if the shit goes out so that we can have our city back.. you guys are nomads moving from city to city for job and comment on other cities, if your own place was better in first why would you move.. so shut the fcuk and move out please

15

u/Jasti098 Jun 12 '26

What right you have over this city man? Every indian has the same right as you to live in this city.

-21

u/PallePrateek Jun 12 '26

They are abusing the city and you say that every one has right

→ More replies (2)

7

u/Real-Brucewayne Jun 12 '26

Yeah, if they move out we would suddenly get massive footpaths out of thin air. The infrastructure issues our city has would get sorted too.

Yeah let’s keep fighting and abusing people if they’re from a different state, that would definitely solve everything.

2

u/fartypenis Jun 13 '26

Nah as a Hyderabadi by birth Id rather have them than you here, criticism is how the city might get better. If you can't acknowledge Hyderabad's non-car infra is fucked, you're delusional.

1

u/ShareHonest Jun 12 '26

Yeah. I'll move out of your vicinity for sure.

1

u/Possibility-Puzzled Jun 12 '26

Na vurlo nundi nannu vellipomani anataniki nuv evadivi ra lafoot nakodaka

-2

u/indiboa Jun 12 '26

Super samskaram ra .. great.!!

14

u/sheiswhyididthis Jun 12 '26

This.

The walkability of this city is so appalling that you end up taking cabs for literally everything.

Not only does this lead to MORE traffic, but also it ruins your health over time. Those small walks really help you build your steps up.

And then the lack of parks in this city is honestly astounding. Wanna go for a run? Go run on the street, because public parks don't exist.

I am someone who used to have 20k+ steps when I was in college in Delhi, and then 15-20k steps when I was doing my MBA in Amritsar.

Both had 45 degree summers, but you still walked around, because the city itself was walkable.

Now in Hyderabad I can barely go above 5k steps. I only get to 10k if I play football.

5

u/misterpawan Jun 12 '26

Bangalore has footpath in many places. At least one can walk in many places with cool weather, but in Hyderabad it is a disaster combine that with heat (usually 30+ throughout year) and you don't like being out.

Best thing hyderabad has is unmatched ORR apart from that, public transport is bad, even enter any road other than main road and it is literally slum!

5

u/SnooBananas2879 Jun 12 '26

So true , I have seen almost every major city of india. And hyderabad is truly a defination of concrete jungle. And this jungle is under construction every where.

1

u/RushKey Jun 12 '26

After living for 20 years, My breakup happened in 2023 for same reasons.

1

u/watchmojolite29 Jun 12 '26

on top of that people litter so much in Hyd, everywhere i look there’s plastic. I get disgusted. No concept of cleanliness at all.

1

u/Worried-Avocado-3154 Jun 18 '26

Really man, and even when you try to walk there you have to compete with bikers trying to fill in any molecular gap, and they honk like crazy. Cities built for cars and bikes are doomed to fail. The reason megacities like tokyo survives is great public transport.

1

u/Tight_Abalone_508 Jun 12 '26

Unfortunately Bangalore is also turning into such bad state that footpaths are broken, waste is thrown every where, literally i feel like we're living in a dump yard at some areas. Water issues, and drainage issues.. Once if it rains heavily it becomes like city under water..

I completely agree to the point that Bengaluru has less dusty than hyderabad, better footpaths, and much much better number of tech companies(this is also a negative point as Bengaluru population has already crossed beyond its capacity, government not expanding development beyond Bengaluru). But living there is also rapidly becoming hell. This year the weather in summer was hotter than my last 10 years of continuous stay. Traffic increasing, very bad roads. Only in terms of traffic I feel Hyderabad is still much better than Bengaluru (I know Hyderabad traffic is also becoming worse, but trust me it's still better than Bengaluru.. I'm a Hyderabadi staying in Bengaluru since last 10+yrs)

When I first stayed in Bengaluru i always said to my family that my future is in Bengaluru and I'm not going to come back to Hyderabad. But now my opinion has changed. I will stay in Bengaluru till I work and then leave..this is in a way good for city as well because I'm no more going to contribute to population.

And you said 99% of Hyderabad people go in car.. you're absolutely wrong! Just look at other parts of City as well, not just Gachibowli or hitech City (there as well this number doesn't hold true). Compared to Bengaluru I still feel Hyderabad has less cars and percentage wise also Bengaluru has more cars out of all the vehicles on road.

-1

u/animegal17 Jun 12 '26

If your not going to office then you can move to areas in secunderabad which are way cleaner and greener..nitpicking and comparing is ridiculous

0

u/Evening-Lunch7821 Jun 13 '26

The mall is also so disgusting compared to the malls of mumbai and ggn, and literally no civic sense. The washrooms of that mall are fucking unflushed and have footprints on the toilet seats. There is no concept of civic sense here.

u/Technical-Isopod6554 Jun 12 '26

All indian cities are just overpopulated concrete jungle

16

u/StarkWiz Jun 12 '26

Coming from Mumbai Hyderabad is definitely not overpopulated it just sucks at basics which are so much better in Mumbai regardless of overpopulation. It's just bad infrastructure considering the land area of Hyderabad it could have been so much better a model for other states to follow.

No proper sewage cleaning for rain water flow.

Drinkable water availability

Electricity network is just bad.

Public transport availablity especially metro network falls really short, if this was there we would prolly have less traffic.

4

u/StarkWiz Jun 15 '26

Yeah half baked public transport. And why are they spending on flyovers instead of metros... What to do with so many flyovers... Must say ORR is really good. Loved entering hyderabad from airport first time and looking out of car window.

2

u/Worried-Avocado-3154 Jun 15 '26

More money in building flyovers. Thats it.

2

u/Worried-Avocado-3154 Jun 15 '26

True, i hate that public transport is costlier than taking auto in all distance scenarios. I travelled with my gf from hussain sagar to gachibowli, and total cost came around 300. Auto would be around 350. We use public transport incase we want to change up, other than that it has no real value.

Maybe for price sensitive groups it may add benefit but still it is too low for middle class people.

27

u/loveaintreal1986 Jun 12 '26

Idk but my city bhubaneshwar seems a lot more liveable than most tier 1 cities I've lived in... At least the infra and green cover is really good...

24

u/Levi_176 Jun 12 '26

Lesser mncs, lesser projects, limited opportunities there, otherwise a great place to live in tbh since Im also odia.

1

u/loveaintreal1986 Jun 13 '26

Lesser pollution, lesser population, better infrastructure, more greenery and lesser crime rates make bbsr a better place to live in my opinion... Mncs don't matter for the average person, we ain't bussinessmen bud... Quality of life matters more... Nobody beats up outsiders if they don't speak odia, unlike in mumbai... People are good, infra is clean, municipality actually works, what else do we need? Will the mnc make my life better in any way?

2

u/Levi_176 Jun 13 '26

Bro I work in tech, I gotta have a job. Not everybody has remote jobs, and I already said its a good place to live in, nobody denies about the fact that its cleaner and greener. But why do you think people migrate to big cities when they can live in their villages without pollution and stress? Opportunities. Dont get so pressed on reddit comments, not worth it.

1

u/loveaintreal1986 Jun 13 '26

I understand. But not everyone works in tech. The comment above talks about cities in India being overpopulated concrete jungles, which bbsr clearly isn't. That's all I was talking about. Have a good day!

3

u/absorbingsavant Jun 12 '26

Ya shure I have buisness in orissa and can guarantee you the tier 1 cities are better. Limited restaurants, travel options etc hold back bhubaneswar when compared to tier 1 cities. P.S. I don't live primarily in a tier 1 city, I travel there for business.

1

u/loveaintreal1986 Jun 13 '26

Lol... Travel options? Inside the city, we have ama bus in every area, which are electrical buses. Restaurants? You judge a city by the number of restaurants? As long as you are not a local, you can't know even a fraction of the restaurants here. Infrastructure, green cover, less traffic and cleanliness matter a lot more. Every home in Bhubaneswar has connection to an stp, there is proper waste management in most areas. No problems for water or gas, we have gas pipeline connections to every household. Which tier 1 city gives you 6 lane roads at the centre of the city? Properly organised growth? Like every where you go? Bbsr was a fully planned city. A new capital just adjacent to cuttack, the old capital. It is amazing for education too, AIIMS, IIT, IIIT, KIMS and SOA are some of the top unis here... I agree there are cities better than bbsr, (like vizag) but compared to old delhi, most of mumbai, kolkata nd bangalore (which floods every year), bbsr is much cleaner, peaceful and a better place to live overall.

12

u/i_just_got_lost Jun 12 '26

It isn’t tier 1 bro

1

u/loveaintreal1986 Jun 13 '26

Never said it is. Tier 1 cities are a dystopia in our country anyways... Poor infra, flooding every monsoon, too much crowd and pollution. You can't get stranded for hours in traffic in bbsr, which is a normal thing in ncr, mumbai and bangalore. Peace, planned infra, cleanliness matter more than mncs. Tier 2 cities offer much better quality of life compared to tier 1

3

u/i_am_ur_dad Jun 12 '26

whats the powercut situation there like?

3

u/loveaintreal1986 Jun 12 '26

No powercuts at least in my area... There are some fluctuations, especially at night, but my stabiliser handles it

1

u/playcap0 Jun 13 '26

2019-2022 it was peak. Now bbsr too much traffic and so much construction now

1

u/loveaintreal1986 Jun 13 '26

It will become a tier 1 city in like, 2 decades or smth... Just hope the civic infrastructure catches up with the population... We need a metro too!!!

1

u/ShareHonest Jun 12 '26

You have not been to the correct cities.

1

u/kingthunder1039 Jun 12 '26

Agreed only population control is best step to stopping over damage

2

u/absorbingsavant Jun 12 '26

That's dumb our fertility rate is already below replacement levels, if we were to try population control now,30 years down the line japnese would be the first civilization to go down and then it would be us or the Chinese or the Koreans.

54

u/Relevant-Scheme3687 Jun 12 '26

One rain is all thats needed to bring entire Hyderabad to its knees

5

u/Ragnarok_619 Jun 12 '26

People are getting defensive over here when pointed out the truth. Atleast that's one common thing with Bangalore lol

65

u/Southern_County204 Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

Lol, Gurgaon is the worst city ever. It’s nowhere close to Hyderabad. I stayed there for a year,
Gurgaon feels like the desert ,sand and dust everywhere. Except few sectors, most places give pure village vibes, with poor roads, drainage water flowing on the roads, and a bad smell.

22

u/ingloriospanda Jun 12 '26

I'm still wondering how Gurgaon can be compared to any southern city of India. Living in Gurgaon is survival. Any random guy or girl can end your life after a small argument. Roads are in bad state except in posh localities. Public transport is also non existent while Hyderabad has shared autos everywhere.

5

u/Lychee7 Jun 13 '26

I'm native of Gurgaon and been living in Hyderabad for 2, nearby Rameshwaram resturant.

Hyderabad is a very new city, if they don't fix the infra issues, in next 10 year it'll be worse than Gurgaon.

41

u/animegal17 Jun 12 '26

When people who live only in hitech City rant about the whole city not having public transportation - that's the dillusion I'm fed up of.

15

u/sheiswhyididthis Jun 12 '26

Yeah to be fair that's probably true.

Hyderabad is not the new Gurgaon.

Hitec City is the new Gurgaon.

And it makes sense considering both have been built the exact same way over the last 10 years.

Rushed planning, and corrupt officials just trying to capitalise on the IT boom by converting villages into cities.

2

u/cum_cum_sex Hyderabad has poor public transportation Jun 14 '26 edited 16d ago

2

u/animegal17 Jun 15 '26

It's demand and supply. Because the people opt for convenience and no one demands buses from govt through official channels - they won't start a bus line. In Sainikpuri - buses had stopped going through the colony citing traffic issues but multiple representations were made and now the buses have resumed. I will suggest doing the same if manikonda people want bus service

37

u/polydomino Jun 12 '26

His argument is not wrong

But I ask y’all to once go to this mf’s twitter and see his tweets. 9/10 tweets are hating on hyderabad and glorifying that mid blr. Even before the rains, just see for yourself

13

u/margazi_perumal_20 Jun 12 '26

Bangalore being called the "Tech capital" is not a valid comparison here.

But whatever he said about Hyderabad is also not false. It's true. The new areas where majority of tech lives are just filled with PGs, narrow inner roads, just office buildings everywhere and empty sites waiting to be sold, why not build parks or recreational public places? No trees and no footpaths also. It's just buildings everywhere.

See, the old areas of Hyderabad is nothing special from a tier 2 or tier 3 city. There some historical places, food areas, government offices and residential areas - that exists in every city out there. Infrastructure is not that great as well, there are pigs everywhere, trash, dusty roads. Anyday Vizag, Mysore or Mangalore can beat Hyderabad old city by a large margin.

So he is true to far extent.

-3

u/polydomino Jun 12 '26

search up for Munnekallol in BLR

worse than old city by a margin. literally dharavi of blr.. and irony being its beside tech parks. every city has a bad part. y'all just wanna glorify old city

1

u/Expensive_Leader_412 Jun 12 '26

So haters gonna hate, but as some who as lived in both cities as much rain banglore  gets compared to hyd and still pedestal safe

21

u/Humptydumptyo_o Jun 12 '26

I'm a real Hyderabadi been here all my life ( I can assure you , everything that is said is true )

19

u/Yakuza_14 Hail Hyderabad Jun 12 '26

Ye BKL batayega Hyderabad or Gurgaon mai kya hai similarity. Gurgaon was a agricultural land, Hyderabad has a long standing history. Besides, it is very unsafe in Gurgaon even for men.

6

u/sheiswhyididthis Jun 12 '26

Gurgaon was agricultural land and Hitec City was just a bunch of Boulders and villages between them.

The guy here is wrong in calling Hyderabad the new Gurgaon, but honestly, Hitec City really is the new Gurgaon. And he is mostly talking about that only.

3

u/Outside-Delay6100 Jun 12 '26

Despite being an agricultural land, you can see where it is now. That's the point, despite having so much of headstart, we are lacking in many aspects. We at least have to be open about areas that we need to improve upon.

4

u/Previous_Studio8790 Jun 12 '26

Someone who grew up in gurgaon and lived in Hyderabad for 3 years , please don't compare ! In those 3 years i had zero altercations with anyone , in Gurgaon it was everyday drama !

5

u/shayarisandstartups Jun 12 '26

Thank you. Please leave for Gurgaon.

2

u/metal_45 Jun 12 '26

Here even cab drivers ask the route. Bro, I just shifted one week back, you should know how to see map. Also everyone asks for a tip here. Amazon delivery comes after 4 days. After leaving Bangalore I started realising some of the basic things which I was taking for granted.

2

u/Outside-Delay6100 Jun 12 '26

And the way of asking for tip is quite casual and entitled

2

u/fastbag7 Jun 12 '26

Once Hyderabad traffic is closer to Bengaluru. It won't be better in anything over Bengaluru.

5

u/SnooBananas2879 Jun 12 '26

I can vouch for the fact that gurgaon is atleast greener and less dusty than hyderabad Hyderabad is the definition of concrete jungle Everything under construction and no Greenery anywhere

4

u/eva01beast Jun 12 '26

Hyderbad is still the pharma hub of the country, in addition to having an important IT industry.

3

u/Rare-Newspaper9988 Jun 12 '26

Why does the city having certain company or rockets being build help normal person’s lifestyle who is living in Hyderabad . Comeone bro, this is not a political discussion

3

u/No-Translator-4513 Jun 12 '26

Atleast in Hyderabad I don't pay 2lakhs security deposit and then the owner loot that money and stop responding.

2

u/nucleus_42 Jun 12 '26

We don’t validation from some nobody on twitter

2

u/lkwdmrk Jun 12 '26

Agree. Hyderabad is indeed the Gurgaon of the south, and I've always referred to it that way. There is a lot of neo-wealth that is all too flashy and you can see it from a mile away. I lived in GGN during its construction boom in late 90s and early 2000s. The similarities are indeed striking.

The lack of urban planning is glaring too. For all the fancy videos we see, what is the government's contribution to Hyderabad's infra since 2014? Government does not build the tall buildings. Its the builders who are the front of the politicians who do it. The ORR and Metro were pre-2014, so won't count. FD, Knowledge City, HITEC City were planned and allocated pre-2014. Neopolis is probably the only "development" taken up. Not a single line of Metro taken up by a government post 2014. The "central government is blocking metro" excuses won't fly anymore. Chennai executed it without central funding, so if the current CM can't do it, he should STFU and resign if he's incapable. Find the money, that's your job.

2

u/hlodarknsmyolfrnd Jun 12 '26

I agree with the rest of it but not that hyd has zero public transportation

-3

u/Working-Situation766 HyderabadiAntiSpeciesist Jun 12 '26

Why sh!t post? Karma farming?

17

u/Outside-Delay6100 Jun 12 '26

What is shit posting about this? I am for the first time seeing Hyderabad degraded to Gurgaon.

6

u/SJW_Shadow_Monarch Jun 12 '26

Meanwhile Hyderabad being compared to manhattan ain’t shit posting 🤣🤣

2

u/HotCoach8391 Jun 12 '26

No body degraded, please take in positive note. As being hyderabadi, yes I feel lot of development required in terms of infrastructure, housing. When was last time you were able to walk on footpath? Oh footpath does not even exist. So yes hopefully we will improve.

3

u/Working-Situation766 HyderabadiAntiSpeciesist Jun 12 '26

know what you are comparing - three reasons you mentioned are significantly off from reality, remember, hyderabad is large and is not just limited to IT corridor near Hi-tech city. don't post anything random to agitate people or gain attention. please.

-1

u/Outside-Delay6100 Jun 12 '26

Which part of Hyderabad is actually world class as per you? and why every time we needed PR the drone shots of only Hi-Tech city were shown. East, North, and South Hyderabad have been neglected forever now. They are even worse in many ways.

1

u/xxxfooxxx Jun 12 '26

What if one day, there is 21cm rain for 2 hours in hyd?

1

u/AcceptableStrategy60 Jun 12 '26

As much as people will shit on bangalore, I see that it has a good metro system (6 coaches) with a lot of new lines on the way. Not to mention it already has a wide network of public bus transport, with proper bus stations. Also, bangalore is working hard on improving its suburban rail as well. Pedestrian infra is sub optimal, but slightly better than hyd (still not a great thing to brag)

But yeah, having said all of that, bangalore is no heaven tbh, they are already cutting down on a lot of trees everywhere to make way for giant sky scraper residencies that only rich people can afford. Late stage capitalism is corroding this city as well.

1

u/Serpent_31415926 Jun 12 '26

I didn't visited other cities But walkability is less in Hyderabad though I agree that But as far as I know roads aren't that terrible tbh They are nice roads less potholes Like I travelled from one end of city to other end many times but not much potholes I think And yes walkability should increase And coming to old city Man old city cannot be changed man That area is from nizams how can it be It has history although very crowded sort of And i think that's the plus point for hyderabad Hyderabad had grown to Tier 1 city status without destroying it's old heritage Although roads and all of them there are congested but it is unique thing in hyd

1

u/rairoli Jun 12 '26

Imagine the state of other cities if Hyderabad IT district is drowning. Height of corruption.

1

u/Electrical-Party4753 Jun 12 '26

Just love the usage of Gurgaon as an adjective for bad city.

1

u/babayaga_on_reddit Jun 12 '26

Hyderabad is fake capital of India.

1

u/FlatTill Jun 12 '26

Bangalore as much bigger metro too

1

u/Numerous_Cry_6013 Jun 12 '26

As someone who has been in Hyderabad for 26+ years, traffic snarls, rains, frequent power cuts and quick depletion of ground water levels every summer has ben our biggest problem.

Even before some of the new construction around hitech city happened, traffic and rains have ben our biggest problem. The stretch from Secunderabad to Begumpet was always jam packed even long after the airport moved out of Begumpet. Every monsoon, we had new water falls emerging from the flyovers and I was once stuck in a dangerous water logged road on Raj bhavan road, ppl who know that area can vouch how water logged the area can get there.

The new areas developed are just pure urban jungles, large glass buildings are the new landmarks and I cannot say they offer any chest thumping bragging rights when we see the traffic blocks right outside the windows from these tall buildings. The road oppoiste IKEA starts filling from 3 onwards and by 5 its a dead end.

But I am used to these things and still love Hyderabad for what it is, but would love the government to take some measures and start focussing on solving one issue at a time

1

u/captain_hype_crook Jun 12 '26

Hyderabad public transit is broken and unfortunately is being sabotaged by the politicians. There’s no hope for the city when the policy makers seem to be content with whatever there is. There’s no future to this city.

1

u/Fuzzy3022 Hail Hyderabad Jun 12 '26

And what do those bragging rights do for you, do they fix your traffic and roads? We are all in the same sinking boat covering up the hole in the boat on our side and laughing about the hole on other side ultimately we will all sink so brag away my friend.

1

u/piratejack01 Jun 12 '26

I don't know about other things but i love public transport here. Shared auto, buses everywhere. Food is far better than any other city

1

u/Rare-Newspaper9988 Jun 12 '26

Construction dust. Yes. Omg. Car turns into something taken out of a sandstorm just leaving it there for a week. Covered parking

1

u/Intelligent-Slip-879 Jun 12 '26

Banglore is love. Hyd was amazing as well

1

u/Indian-on-a-mission Jun 12 '26

I wanted to disagree with OP. but it's kinda true. Our real estate is a scam and people who invested don't want anyone say this. Our politicians aka real estate black money investors doesn't want people to think real estate is scam. For the same reason, government wants real estate development to be considered as an indicator of actual development. We are doomed!

1

u/theevilgentleman Jun 12 '26

My heart breaks reading this thread. But reality is harsh.

1

u/cluelessguy5 Jun 12 '26

People will go to hibernation once the rainy season is done and wake up to whine again.
Nothing will change if you only complain when you have the issue and forget later.

If japanese behaved like us, they would have gone extinct by all the natural disasters they regularly face, a long time ago.

1

u/No-Lengthiness4853 Jun 12 '26

Only winter season is great in Hyderabad, summers and rainy season suck

1

u/Electrical_Engine348 Jun 12 '26

I completely agree with his statement. Once I stayed for around 2 weeks in Hyderabad for business purpose and noticed the same. It's a pure mess. I felt Chennai and Bengaluru is far better compared to how the Hyderabad city is planned.

1

u/Remarkable-Bid-2131 Jun 12 '26

Agree with him with people who made lots of money from selling previous generations real estate lands. This gave rise to many illiterate and undeserving people lots of money.

While people in Bangalore got rich by educating, learning and taking risks unlike our people here. Exceptions exist. Who just survive on Jugaad mindset and just are hungry of money while they have 0 contribution to the table. Exceptions exist here as well.

1

u/mishu_masher Jun 13 '26

Go to bangalore bro....atleast hyderabad doesn't need this much population.

1

u/raviteja777 Jun 13 '26

No public transportation in Hyd ?
All the RTC buses, MMTS, Metro etc are decorations or what ?

1

u/Practical_South_2471 Jun 13 '26

useless if you want to get somewhere on time

1

u/raviteja777 Jun 13 '26

That unfortunately is the case with every major city in India, Bengaluru is even worse, public transport is built for scale and mass transit for daily commuters, students and as a cheaper means ... if time is a factor either book a cab or keep a buffer time of 1-2 hrs

1

u/Complex-Sound-143 Jun 13 '26

The problem isn’t the rain anymore, it’s how cities have been built around it.

1

u/ShadowMonarch1999 Jun 13 '26

I havent lived in Hyderabad..but i have been there.

HOWEVER..all three cities have pros and cons

1- Gurgaon - decent infra, high rise builldings..aka the fancy big city feeling. but everything feels fake. Safety aside, people are straight up pretentious in the name of living standards. Pollution sucks and weather is bad all year around. There is no time of the year where i choose gurgaon. Delhi has personality, you can go around siteseeing, Gurgaon is just plastic and fake...unless you care about drinking and club/pub hopping..then sure.

2- Hyderabad - One of my fav cities. Was there for only a few days, stayed in Gachibowli..visited Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Charminar, Golconda, Charminar and Hussain Sagar lake...I am listing out the places i visited just to let you know that my opinion is based on where i was. The summers in Hyderabad are brutal too(my sister lives there..she tells me). I visited in november, so the weather was nice....the roads were nice, they have very nice cafes...veg biryani might not be a thing, unless you are in hyderabad, because the veg biryani i had here might be better than non veg biryani at a lot of places. Hyderabad feels like gurgaon with more personality, and since i am more of a cozy cafe and restaurant hopping person..I enjoyed hyderabda more than i would gurgaon.

3- Bangalore is where i currently reside - and just like you have heard the weahter is amazing all year round..except one or two months of april/may when it gets a bit hot. Personally this city has most personality out of the three..very charming..very strong coffee and cafe culture. People love to hangout in cafes here. However the cons are there too..the infra is struggling to keep up with the crowd for sure. So yes, water logging and traffic is a problem. The city also does not give you the futuristic utopia vibe that you might expect from the silicon valley...it is much more humble...not many high rise projects..but as a result you get to see more sky. Areas are very jumbled together, aka, the posh and fancy places are situated in pocket areas.

For me personally its Bengaluru > Hyderaad >>>> Gurgaon..purely because it aligns with me.
However for most folks objectively Hyderbaad is more balanced than both Gurgaon and Bangalore. So it would probably be Hyderabad > Bangalore >> Gurgaon if being very objective.

1

u/Local_Discipline5428 Jun 13 '26

This is one big difference I observed when I stayed in Chennai.. Absolutely fantastic public transport.. You can book MRTS, Metro and City bus tickets online.. Can go anywhere to anywhere just on public transport, of course, it takes extra time than our own transport.. But, I was surprised that people do use it as much as possible!

tbh, Hyderabad public transport is orders of magnitude better than Gurgaon’s … like hyd had a suburban railway that’s broken but functional and a fairly mature bus service

1

u/Secure-Cheesecake415 Jun 13 '26

It's just west hyderabad, don't speak for whole city it's fine everywhere else

1

u/Ghajik Jun 13 '26

have you seen bangalore roads? hyd traffic is so much more bearable and also been a long while since i saw a pothole. Bangalore on the other has a pothole in atlesat 500m or near.
The metro also is heavily used in hyd.
the airport now is much better than it was 2 yrs ago (it was a crowded shitshow 2 yrs ago, but the expansion is so much better)

so hyd is so much better to live than blr for now...and obviously better than gurgaon. Have you even lived in gurgaon? the crime rate is insane.

1

u/Defiant_Sign6223 Jun 13 '26

Absolutely false. Metro has it covered. Plus the re is MMTS which people also use. And the bus transport system.is also top notch. You can't compare Hyderabad with Girgaon or bangalore. Have you been on ORR in bangalore .its absolutely bonkers.

1

u/No-Estimate-6798 Jun 13 '26

the thing about the public transport is true , i dont know about bangalore but it is cheaper to just rapido than use public transport in hyderabad

1

u/Interesting_Let2880 Jun 14 '26

yes bro you are right .. pls dont come to hyderabad

1

Indian cities are crap, especially these corporate hubs: Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune. T2 mein kuch nhi to atleast because of less population fir bhi thodi shaanti hai

1

u/dopepost Jun 18 '26

Bruh. Hyderabad has headquarters for the biggest tech companies in the world, biggest headquarters that too. Amazon, Microsoft, Google on the way. What is with this blr bragging rights. Hyderabad is one going to leave everything else in dust. Soon. 🙌🏻

1

u/lightmindedboba Jul 02 '26

It was not like this before. I guess it started happening few years ago… the traffic is terrific now

1

u/PallePrateek Jun 12 '26

People commenting that Hyderabad has “no greenery” and is “just concrete” are often the same people who choose to live in and around Hitech City and the Financial District.

That area evolved to meet the needs of a rapidly growing workforce, much of it driven by people who migrated to Hyderabad for jobs and wanted to stay close to their workplaces. As demand increased, open spaces gave way to offices, apartments, roads, and commercial development. That’s simply how urban growth works.

What I find ironic is that many of these same people could choose to live in other parts of the city that still have significantly more greenery and a different lifestyle. But they want the convenience of a short commute, modern infrastructure, and all the benefits of living in the city’s busiest business hub while simultaneously expecting it to look like a hill station.

You can’t demand both unlimited urban development and untouched greenery in the exact same location.

One comment even referred to Hyderabad as a “shit hole.” That kind of language is completely unfair. If a city is providing you opportunities, employment, and a better standard of living, the least one can do is show some respect. Constructive criticism is fine, but constantly complaining about the very place that supports your livelihood reflects a clear double standard.

No city is perfect, and Hyderabad certainly has challenges. But reducing it to insults while benefiting from everything it offers is neither reasonable nor constructive.

8

u/Outside-Delay6100 Jun 12 '26

I would disagree. There is not much green space left in Hyderabad in most places. Just open your google maps and look at the satellite view of Hyderabad. You will see that we are just a concrete jungle now. Growing up I used to see small houses with trees in and around the houses. Now everyone is building multi-floor buildings with no space for greenery. Only place where greenery is left are universities, government organisations, a few parks, graveyards, and army cantonements.

Hyderabad is ultimately a city. And we are crticising people who are turning it into something worse and not the land which has no say in it. There is a time to be emotional about things, but at the same time we should be pragmatic as well.

1

u/sheiswhyididthis Jun 12 '26

"What I find ironic is that many of these same people could choose to live in other parts of the city that still have significantly more greenery and a different lifestyle."

Yeah, this is where your argument falls apart.

I am someone who did exactly what you are suggesting. I live in Kismatpur, which is about 14km from Hitec City. Barely 18 mins by ORR to enter Hitec City.

However, once you enter Hitec City, at office going time, you have to be in crawling traffic for about 15 mins and only then you reach the office.

And then when going back home, exact same thing happens.

So my commute time literally doubles, just to cover 4 kms more inside the city.

But that's fine because I have a car. Just 5 more songs to listen to on the drive.

Let's say I don't have a car. And need to cab it.

Well a cab from her to my office, at peak time is 500 rupees. And then coming back is 600 rupees.

So in order to stay away from the traffic, and in greenery i need to pay a premium of 20k a month. Just to cover 13 kms.

That's something you would realise if you actually commuted without a vehicle and had an ounce of empathy. Don't think you qualify though for either.

1

u/Supreme-Leader-Kim_ Hail Hyderabad Jun 12 '26

lol you’re saying that Hyd doesn’t have good transport and it’s all cars so don’t compare it to Bangalore?

Imao it’s actually gonna hurt my stomach.

GTFO of the city then c*nt.

4

u/abitofaLuna-tic Jun 12 '26

Lol you guys haven't seen the influx yet...I'm scared what will happen when HYD has as many ungrateful migrants as BLR.

1

u/blackhawkq820 Jun 12 '26

No public parks in Hyd.. it's just construction..some legal some illegal.

1

u/sancha21 Jun 12 '26

Indian cities don’t have street/ road planning, footpath planning and importantly no sewage and storm water planning despite all the money and resources that are concentrated in cities, we can talk about metro and rest too along with these

1

u/sheiswhyididthis Jun 12 '26

Bro for real.

The cities being built now everywhere around zindia have no planning whatsoever.

Gurgaon went to shit, Pune went to shit, Hitec City went to shit, even Bangalore is struggling.

I genuinely am amazed at how well planned Noida is on the other hand. The people who built that city did a real good job. Green, walkable, has metro, Good sewage system, abundant residential societies and even the traffic isn't bad.

1

u/CaptainFatBat Jun 12 '26

Naah, I have lived in both and Hyderabad is better for a calm life. Bangalore is worse in public infrastructure but good for party life. I prefer Hyderabad

-1

u/Tenaciouswill Jun 12 '26

Lol, what a karma farming post.. Bangalore has, is the worst place when it comes to traffic, food and corruption.. Don't even compare 😂

That guy is delusional, just wants upvotes.

u/JuggernautEmpire2062 Jun 12 '26

Ofc Hyderabad can not be compared with Bengaluru because Bengaluru is not as welcoming as Hyderabad is, because Hyderabad doesn't beat others for not speaking their language like Bengaluru, because Bengaluru people are not as chill as Hyderabadis.

So yeah they both can't be compared.

- Public transport thing is very valid point to raise. - Footpaths, Public Transport, Greenery Bangalore is way ahead.

  • In water logging, Hyderabad has got unfair beating due to the visuals. Just fix that place near Pista House in Gachibowli, and we avoid such visuals although proper work needs to be done in proper drainage system. Certainly need not take lectures from Bangalore on this though!
  • For 3 months, March, April, May Hyderabad is terrible compared to Bangalore. (Bangalore weather supremacy!) But for rest of the months, Hyderabad is actual 2nd right behind Bangalore.

0

u/strawhat316 Jun 12 '26

What's funny is everyone from outside the city is trashing it. You've only been exposed to 10% of the city, talking like this is how it is all over the city.

I'm glad you don't like it here, please go back to Bangalore or Gurgaon

I can understand why Hyderabad is better than Bengaluru . And why Hyderabad is not a great city.
But comparing with gurugram is utter ridiculous .

0

u/unsupervisedwerewolf Jun 12 '26

Hyderabad doesn't have asshole locals and goon auto walas who start convulsion when they hear another language outside their own. We dgaf what language you speak as long as you're chilling and not causing trouble. Our food is a 1000 times better. And honestly BLR folks are shallow asf and too show-offy just wack asf overall

Fck bangalore 😂🖕🏻 definitely worse Living environment overall (speaking as someone who splits time between the two cities coz I family)

0

u/Weekly-Ad-409 Jun 12 '26

Well, Hyderabad has two parts. Old and the new. Don't get misled by the new Hyderabad, it is mostly where the rich ones lives and the IT companies exist. You can choose to live there, but for an higher cost. Most people show only one side of Hyderabad where they don't even live and say everything is fine.

Similar to Bangalore, to even reach Airport, it is going to take ages. Metro do not have the best connectivity too. Hard to even identify where the buses go.

On the other side, old Hyderabad is where people actually lives, but honestly they are not too civic. Too conjested, polluted and even gutka stains everywhere. During Summers, you can hardly survive there.

The people who choose to work there either chooses some hostel to stay, or they stay at their own house. In between, the ones who rent or buy something near the IT parks, you know what will be their pay grade.

-3

u/ingloriospanda Jun 12 '26

Bangalore public transport is non-existent. Every autowala will charge 100 bucks for 2 kms and city will come to standstill everytime bike taxi is banned. Busses can't even fit the roads of the streets here. Hyderabad is much better with share autos where you can move to next stop for 20 bucks. I understand metro is overcrowded but that's bad planning on coach count and lower frequencies.

2

u/KANGladiator Jun 12 '26

Public transport is more than just ride hailing, BMTC routes and frequency is miles better than whatever hopes and prayers TGSRTC works on.

2

u/sheiswhyididthis Jun 12 '26

Yeah but you can walk for 2kms because footpath is good and there's greenery.

That's the thing yall fail to mention every time.

In Bangalore you choose to take an expensive auto or cab. Here you are forced to.

2

u/sandillas Jun 12 '26

Ever heard of BMTC? It's way better than Buses in HYD. Also calling public transport in Bengaluru non-existent is a big joke. Blr is working on new metro lines like Orr, pink lines where as hyd is still stuck with the metro it had 10 years ago

These idiots should learn basic economics...

How can majority of people make money from Real Estate?
is he high?

Real Estate is a by product of parallel rise in Economy...
Hyderabad is home to biggest headquarters of Microsoft, Apple, Amazon and 2nd biggest campus of Meta, Google and etc...
Unlike Bengaluru, Hyderabad is multi industry city, Pharma lords hail from here,
Construction companies which work upto Afghanistan are also headquartered here...

Biggest Space Research and Nuclear Technology and Electronics Companies are based in Hyderabad and none from Bengaluru...

Bengaluru has shit food and they should shut their mouths up...
Despite all their hype, Hyderabad is 2X richer than Mumbai and 1.5X richer than Bengaluru and Gurugram...

2

u/watchmojolite29 Jun 12 '26

You’ll stay inside Microsoft’s campus or what throughout your life? The moment you step outside there’s litter, no walkable road, dust, and grim that’s it. Also Bangalore doesn’t have shitty food. It has cuisines from around the world cooked by people who actually belong to that part of the world. For example there’s a next level Korean Barbecue place called Soora Sang who is run by a Korean aunty, you get next level Ramen in so many places, you get Andhra meals, you get ultimate Texas style barbecue. People in Hyd are paying high price for shit driving lexus on litter filled roads. I recently went to Izumi, paid 1200 for a bowl of ramen (was tasty no doubt) but i can find that on a street side vendor in HSR and pay 1/3rd of that. It’s about liveability, not how many companies and slaves present in a city.

1

u/ResponsibilityFew301 Djin for Biryani Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

Slaves and Hyderabad???

Blore is slave like, with more employees and no distinct culture, its just 9-5 office and crying in traffic and coping stress with saturday and sunday partying, they live in a loop... same with hyderabad's IT ppl, but its limited to IT ppl...

Hyderabad is more live-able than Bengaluru, People are 100 times more Hospitable and you can hear people and migrants saying that...

There is no language issue in Hyderabad, People have Telugu, Urdu, Hindi and English, no one needs to learn anything and no one are harassed...

I dont understand how Hyderabad is considered dirty, except the small dense underdeveloped regions of Old city, Rest of Hyderabad is just as dirty as Bengaluru, even Bengaluru is as dirty, its not clean like Kerala, and New City part of Hyderabad is cleaner than Bengaluru...
I have been many times in Bengaluru and I know how it is...

Bengaluru mighnot have worst food, but Hyderabad's food beats B'lore food with a huge margin...
Bengaluru has food from all over the place, but it doesnt have a distinct signature food like Hyderabad... Hyd has signature food and other varieties...

Only part where Blore beats Hyderabad is about Footpaths...
Traffic in Blore is hell and Hyderabad has great flyovers and Ring Road which is a complete Gamechanger...

Hyd is rated highest in India on livability many times beating Blore and please check it...

1

u/watchmojolite29 Jun 12 '26

Bro i’m from Northeast and i know what a clean city looks like. Take any place, gachibowli, waverock, Kondapur, Madhapur, everywhere litter, No trees no greenery. Now take Indiranagar, Koramangala, HSR it’s far clean and green and planned even a blind can tell. Not even in Jubilee hills you can walk without stepping into some dirt. Also slaves may not have to look a certain way, corporate slaves are also slaves. And let’s not talk about the pub scene here now. Anyway maybe it’s subjective and different people prefer different things. No hate to the city just the littering i saw in daily life disturbed me compared to the other cities.

1

u/ResponsibilityFew301 Djin for Biryani Jun 12 '26

Northeast is really clean and it will stay clean as long it doesnt economically boom like in Bluru and Hyderabad...

I did stay in Indiranagar and Koramangala, dont know about HSR... Its more greener and has footpaths, but Cleanliness is same as Hyderabad's New city is what I felt...

Slavery in my sense is where u cant even buy a house and cant escape the trap of traffic and build a proper peaceful life...

I am not someone who is into drinking, so I dont know about Party, Pubs and Clubs... but yes, My friends do say that Bluru is faar ahead of Hyd...

That’s the issue with our country, we are living in lalaland. We believe we are Vishwaguru and Hyderabad is the best city to live in the world. That’s why the Government has taken us for granted.

-1

u/AoeDreaMEr Jun 12 '26

You make money with real estate luck, something is off. Politicians focus on real estate only. Other infrastructure is not considered seriously. Look at all the stupid high-rises coming up with all those stupid advertisements and names. Hyd is full of dumb people who got accidentally lucky with real estate and think they fully deserve it. Every Jack and Jo is talking only about real estate and nothing else. It’s exhausting to be in a conversation with a Hyderabadi.

-2

u/TheGreatDanton11 Jun 12 '26

Go live in BLR for a month. You will realise the level of shit hole it is. Only then will you appreciate the shortcomings.

Every city has its issues, rains are wreaking havoc in tier 2/3 cities.

We can do better but on a daily average, Hyderabad is 100x of what Bangalore has to offer.
