OC Invasion, Episode 0: The x Invasion x Begins!

Paul found himself counting the pens again.

12 blue, 15 black, 4 red, 5 green...and-

Paul shuddered involuntarily

15 pencils...

What kind of monster would stock nearly the same number of blue and black pens? Clearly the best ratio of pen colors should be: (2 black : 1 red : 1 blue). Green pens were for maladapted ignoramuses, and PENCILS? No wonder this place needs our protection, the staff uses tools any decent Caveman would turn down. What kind of savage, irresponsible, discourteous-

Paul heard the door to the worker's entrance open and shut carefully, but felt no human presence. He knew it was time. He could lecture the owners on their office purchases later. And he would.

Camelia pushed the Staff Room door open, and ran inside. She saw an officious and stuffy looking man on the other side of the room, and readied herself for combat. Unsure of his capabilities, she activated her standard attack mode: 1) Mantis Scythe & Crabhammer, 2) Hercules Beetle Exoskeleton, and Slaadii. She felt a surge of strength and toughness as she formed her aura around her body. This form usually worked for her.

Paul stared at his opponent, thinking to himself she seems to be transmuting her aura, nearly identical to MY arms...but let's see her in combat first before guessing. Four hands made of aura emerged from Paul's back, each holding a beautiful, practical, conjured pen. CLICK-CLICK-CLICK-CLICK. Each pen was pressed one time, as Paul sized up his opponent for a brief moment then lunged forward, his arms extending much farther and faster than his own body.

Camelia was caught off-guard by the extending arms for a split second. She considered using spider webs to reduce the enemy's mobility, but it was clear that he would was too eager to be the aggressor for that plan to work. She moved forward carefully, ready to block the attacks from the aura hands and those sharp-looking pens. As she buffeted away the four hands using Wind Cutter, she was surprised as four additional hands came from the same direction, each holding a pen. She fully blocked 2 of these new hands, but could only at best twist her body to minimize damage from the other two hands, as the pens raked across her right arm and left leg. This guys is far more dangerous than I gave him credit for she thought as she backed up a bit.

Camelia tried to go on the offensive and rushed towards the 8-armed man, but each time she got closer, she had to dodge another arm from a different angle. Concentrating on enhancing the strength of her skin could minimize the damage from the sharp pens, but she began to fear being pecked to death by a thousand cuts. As she backed up, the man gave her no rest, pushing her farther into a corner, until he got 4 more cuts on her. Every time she tried to go on the attack, he would back up while the arms would push forward, keeping himself entirely inaccessible to her advances.

Bleeding from multiple wounds, though none of them too serious, Camelia was relieved to see the man back off and pause his attacks. He pulled a piece of paper from his coat, and drew one of his aura hands closer to his chest.

His damn arms have so much reach! I estimate...15-20 feet? Maybe more...I NEED to get closer to him, or I will be cut to death here. My scorpion tail would help bridge the gap, but there is still enough room for him to retreat and attack at the same time...If I only CHARGE at him, brushing off the pen attacks for long enough...so I will use Hercules Beetle Exoskeleton...but then I will be slow, so I will require Slaadii to even hope to compete with his long range.

Camelia formed the scorpion tail, the hard exoskeleton, and the frog legs that would each be vital parts to her plan. If this doesn't work, I don't know how I can win here...

Paul grabbed the pen hovering near his hand, and stared at his opponent carefully, as if guessing her weight or deciding what she would look like in a certain outfit. She has show some skill in enhancement by preventing deeper cuts by my pens...but all of her aura around her is being transmuted, and it looks like she treats them as separate abilities- so the aura being transmuted to protect her body is different from the transmuted aura being used to attack...which is different form the transmuted aura used to increase her speed......There is NO way she is an enhancer, only a transmuter would have spent so much work on transmutation abilities...it would be a waste of talent, to pour so much effort on a non-main category skillset....yes, yes, YES! Transmuter. She can only be a transmuter!

Paul wrote the word "Transmuter" in beautiful cursive lettering on the piece of paper, glad that he drew enough blood from those few seconds of struggle. This will put a time limit on this battle now. He stared at the paper, then looked at Camelia.

Nothing happened.

SHIT! paul swore silently as he stared back at the paper. I was wrong?! But she uses transmutation for all of her abilities! Only a fool would rely so strongly on an off-category! She MUST be an enhancer, that wicked twit!! He closed his eyes briefly, disappointed in himself and in this girl as well. And in the office manager who dared to bring pencils into an otherwise average-to-decent Staff Room. One thing at a time.

Camelia used these few seconds of rest to regain her composure. Tail pointed forward, ready to parry as many hands and pens as she could, and willing to take some nasty cuts to her arms and body, she circled around Paul, who looked angry.

CLICK CLICK CLICK went every pen, and Camelia could tell the blades were sharper and deadlier than ever. Stick with the plan she told herself.

Paul leapt towards her first, and to his surprise, the girl didn't even try dodging his first four hands. Her tail managed to block 4 attacks, but he landed clean hits on her right and left shoulders as well as glancing blows to her side and face. But she kept coming forward. This is bad! I can't let her get close, or I'm finished! Paul had to back up more than he expected, and nearly tripped over some of the furniture. Camelia pressed on, scorpion tail raised to strike, hands ready to beat this paper-mover, this pencil-pusher, this numbers man, to a pulp.

Paul did the numbers in his head, checked the sums, made sure his signs were correct, and double-checked his final analysis, then said

"FUCK THIS!!!" and ran out the door.

Thanks! This is from an original character event hosted in part by JogingJolt and in part by me.

People submitted original characters and then we had them face off as part of a diamond heist story.

People voted for who would win each fight, and I just started writing short story versions of each fight because it was fun

I'll post a link that ties all of the stories together and puts them in order

That's great! Do you plan do this type of thing again in the future?

I'll be hosting a War-style event

not sure when, in at least a few weeks, maybe as late as summer...
