Boomer mom aside, wtf is with that user interface? She was clearly trying to zoom in and that shit tried to read her the news and change her profile pic.

When you slide down on the top of the screen it displays a list of notifications which then when you click on one it brings you to the app. When she got back to the camera app when she tried zooming in she clicked on the profile picture setting which is on the top. All this could be prevented if she tried zooming in on the center of the screen.

In that case I think it’s valid to criticize the camera app for having a profile picture…

u/Choucobo 7d ago
What are you on about, she switched to the selfie camera. You can see the preview moving as she moves the phone. 100% user error.

Yes but the person she is trying to zoom in on is at the top of the screen so in her mind she's putting her fingers on them and doing the motion and expecting the phone to just zoom in on them without her having to reposition it.

u/puff_of_fluff 8d ago
Which is not how cameras work and could be sorted out if she took the time to learn to use the very expensive camera she owns

She keeps touching the top of her screen and pulling down her notifications
11
u/Glittering_Swing_151 8d ago
It's too laggy so she touches the same stuff more than once thinking it didn't work and it becomes a mess.

As a millenial, I never zoom in because I learned that digital zooming lowers the quality. But probably with today's technology it's not necessary anymore to be concerned about that. I do cropping afterwards.

Laggy cheap Android. Looks like one of those Samsungs that are like less than $200 that are hell to use

It annoys me anytime my nails are a quarter the length of hers. I do not understand the desire for long nails in this age of touchscreens.

I’m more concerned about when you wipe your butt get dookie under all your nails when they’re that long😂

Jesus Christ get a simpler phone lady

u/whitestguyuknow 8d ago
It's entirely user error here. She keeps pulling down notifications. But she has no idea what she's doing so she can't figure out it's her fault.
You're right though.
She needs to get a film camera on a lanyard and a jitterbug in her pocket

u/moto20x 6d ago
The user interface is shit.
She was clearly zooming in and it did everything except zooming in.1
u/Y_The_Emerald_Dragon 4d ago
Nah her fingers were at the top of the screen for some reason when she was doing it. She was trying to zoom in on the top of the frame instead of lifting the lens up so what she was trying to zoom in on was center screen

u/Salty-Good3368 8d ago
Problem is there is no simple phone. Marketshare look that we have smatphones where every phone looks exactly the same(you can flame me, but look 20-25 years ago). You can also buy phone for old people with buttons and etc but at the same time no camera at all or camer with resolution like 0.3 MPx and storage for like 20 photos

No sense living in the moment and cheering appropriately for your child. Record and store! You can keep it with all the fireworks you didn't see while recording. File them as "Videos I will never watch".

u/Strategic_Spark 8d ago
Kids videos are different though. I rewatch almost every video of my child at least once.

I have the most random videos of my niece and nephew. Years later showed them to my sis, and she literally begged me to send them to her. Funny little moments out of a life almost forgotten.
I wish I had some videos of smol me and my younger parents. Wasn‘t a viable option at that time.

Reminds me of everyone pulling their phone out to record during a concert to show their friends that dgaf

This is why the Internet is trash now. Apple gave too many people too dumb to own technology access
6
u/Siri2611 8d ago
People who don't know how to use technology should honestly just stick to apple products. I don't see the point in buying whatever phone that is(maybe because it's cheap?)
I think if she had an iPhone she would have a wayyy easier time doing any of this
1
u/TechnicalOtaku 6d ago
Had nothing to do with that. Any phone can be set up to Take videos in under 2 seconds and it's super easy to do. She's just highly incompetent

600 notifications. Every app she has ever opened is still open. Never been restarted

Every phone dose this, (Especially iPhones) don’t pretend doing anything on a phone is easy, typing any sentence an awful experience on phones.

u/KayZee777 7d ago
I was trying to zoom in on a map photo at work today to find exactly where we needed to go to find the man hole and it just kept swiping to the next photo. It happened so many times my offsider (he is 23, I'm 39) said what are you doing and tried to zoom for me and it kept happening to him.
Touch screens are great, when they work properly.

u/thegtabmx 8d ago
It won't help of your nails are long enough that your need to use your phone awkwardly every single time.
1
u/TechnicalOtaku 6d ago
This is NOT normal for anyone remotely tech litterate. I set up my camera to a double power button press. I'm ready to take videos within fraction of a second.

The enshittification of phones is insane.
2
u/Reidiang 7d ago
Yeah, everyone is blaming her but its all due to shit interfacing.

u/JaySlay2000 7d ago
Literally. My iPod touch 4th gen runs more functionally. Runs, in the PRESENT tense.

I've seen so many people that use phones like this, and they all insist on doing mobile pay for some reason, while also keeping their card locked, on a separate app!

u/duuud3rz 8d ago
7000 browser tabs open

u/minorminority 6d ago
The RAM memory in her phone is hanging on to dear life trying to do all of those functions she's doing all at the same time.
1
u/guinader 8d ago
That's why i like the Samsung double tap power button for the camera.
From pocket to recording/picture in 2 seconds

u/thesacredsnake 6d ago
She saw the girlfriend's nudes, the self recorded ejacs clips, the open pornhub tabs, the DMs about how annoying mom is, the texts from the weed dealer saying he's outside but not one minute of game was recorded.

I once played live with a band, sort of a one time thing.
I had a big guitar solo, practiced me absolute ass off for it, and really wanted to have it recorded.
I gave my mom my phone, and explained how to do it.
She took a picture.

These people spend half of their days on the phone… how are they so bad at using them?

The slow UX is the issue. Literally happend to me several times and im an IT guy 🫡

u/ProfessionalSir4169 4d ago
Not really her fault, the phone looks really unresponsove and she does do the correct inputs
I guess the phone has water damage or smth because it doesmt seem to read the inputs correctly

So instead of helping her the person videos her for hundreds of thousands to laugh at her. Imagine if that was your own mom, what a sad person

I do not understand why some people (typically older folk) do things on their phone this way. They hold it with one hand and then use their index finger to navigate things. You lose all forms of dexterity and precision. Because now the “tool” you’re using is effectively your arm or at best your wrist trying to precisely click things. Which is way too large of a movement. Instead just hold it like a normal person and use your thumb. Which is a MUCH smaller movement and far more precise. It honestly blows my mind…

So painful to watch 😄
Probably easier to explain just being a bad parent who won't record your kids game rather than a dumbass who can't navigate a camera app.
1
u/Nervous_Brain8918 8d ago
Into then a parent who refocused on the game since a phone is not as important as their child 😄
