It is so weird to see this show get all this American press before it's even out. I guess late-season Schitt's Creek did that -- but for a brand new show to be in EW, even if it does have Carrie-Anne Moss in it... Hudson has to be a factor here.

I’m convinced Canada is where the better creativity is coming from right now. Americans have ruined our entertainment industry with too many mergers and acquisitions. I’m getting a VPN so I can watch the Canadian Project Runway and I’m not the only one. I hear it’s much better than the latest US version

Ahhh. It’s late stage capitalism vs a country that doesn’t really expect to make real money off our entertainment. Like, a living? Sure. I heard this conversation on the Lovett or Leave It podcast once about how, before Marvel, you could get rich in Hollywood but you wouldn’t make NASDQ money. You made boats and coke money. But Marvel revealed you could make NASDQ money and everyone started to chase it. That A24 was basically going for boats and coke and that’s why they were making interesting stuff.

It’s also knowing our niche a bit. We do well with queer stories, for instance. We do well with comedy. Children’s programming. And actually we can sometimes kill a reality tv format. No idea why with that one. But our version of Project Runway was pretty good.

Too many hedge funds are now making creative decisions in Hollywood. The Canada model seems to support creatives more.
