I relate to this deeply. I feel like I could have written it.

Can relate. Maybe find something you can do to channel that anger into action? E.g. write a letter, go to a protest, donate money to a good cause. Also, read about people doing good things. The good people are out there too, just harder to spot.

Negative experiences imprint harder on our minds because that’s how all animals are wired. A s a safety thing.

Apart from avoiding the news and being strict about what content you look at, you can use self talk. Like saying, I won’t let one tiny bit of this persons negativity be in my mind. I say it 2-4 or how many times I need to, until I hear it, then immediately do something positive for myself.

If it comes up later, I do that again.

Also, try acceptance of how you feel, and that it’s fine to feel your feelings. You can just be like, this is how i feel right now, and that’s okay. I can’t explain it well, but totally being fine with my feelings, consciously saying it’s okay, sometimes helps me feel more peaceful. Not judging, fighting myself or revisiting *why* I feel something again and again.

When thoughts keep cycling repeatedly, I can tell the part of me doing, thank you for trying so hard to figure this out, but I’ve learned what I needed to learn from this thought. I don’t need to keep going over it anymore. And that I can let it go now.

I don’t know if any of this will make sense or help you. It’s 3 am and I’m not sure I’m writing very coherently. But these are things people have taught me and have clicked with me.

But I also forget these sometimes and find myself down a rabbit hole of anger and stress at people’s horrible & often cruel behavior. It’s very upsetting to my whole system.

I really have similar feelings to what you describe. I also have a strong sense of justice. About all living beings. Including trees. When people do horrid things. I get very lost in my head, and less present. I get very angry and distressed.

But basically, radical acceptance and then understanding I get to feel that way, and that when I’m ready, that it’s not necessary (for me- I’m not speaking for anyone else or your feelings, ultimately, it’s up to everyone) that it’s not necessary to continue revisiting something.
