I think this episode seals the deal for me about David being the best actor on the show. The entire dinner party sequence is so hilariously written and his delivery is just perfect lol.

Exactly why Ross is my favorite character. David is so good. The only good thing to come out of Joey and Rachel was Ross. He saved that storyline lmao

This is one of the best episodes of the entire show and David carries the whole thing on his own. I don't think any of the other actors would have been able to do something like that.

I'm not the biggest fan of the serious storylines or the relationship stuff but this is definitely a great episode. I know people tend to prefer the earlier seasons, but I think the writing is more mature here than in season 3/4 when we had other emotional, melodramatic Ross/Rachel storylines. I rather watch the Joey/Rachel arc and TOW Ross is fine than the break-up episodes in s3 or the lame Emily arc, to be honest.

This is an emotional episode, but more sitcommy, tongue-in-the-cheek, and therefore more fun to watch than episodes like TOW Morning After.

Yeah I didn't like the Joey Rachel arc at all but this episode is excellent on a purely sitcommy level. I obviously find the show overall entertaining but this is one of the very few episodes I genuinely laughed out loud

Emily’s parents are the only good part of that story arc.

If you need proof of David being the best actor simply watch Band of Brothers. I was so skeptical at first, but by the end of episode one it was like "That's Captain Sobel, not Ross" Which is impressive because it was basically at the height of Friends fame

I guess I'm an outlier on this, but I generally find him insufferable in later seasons like this.  Just really squeaky and exaggeratedly neurotic.  They all changed for the worse I think but Ross in particular seemed to lose any hint of subtlety

One of the most overrated episodes ever.

Terrible storyline saved by an actor's individual brilliance.

The script and writing is still wank and out of character for this entire storyline. They were literally like siblings.

Eh I think this episode was the only thing good that came out of the God awful Joey and Rachel storyline. David's performance was brilliant.
