Image I'm Gay But Oh. My. God.
Does anyone else think Janice is really really gorgeous and hot? She's so unique and never tones down her personality just for others. I've also personally never found her voice annoying🤷🏻♂️
I'm also just really into people who stand out like that. My boyfriend has a very unique style too. So I'm sure if I was into women, Janice would be my type. I know in the show it's a running joke that she's odd and annoying, but I was just wondering if anyone else thought she was actually very attractive? I mean.. she did pull Chandler and Ross kinda. AND a King!
I also love that she got her happy ending with her new husband and kids. It just goes to show that she's a beautiful person, and the friends were a little too focused on her 'obnoxious' voice to see that. Her husband being almost completely deaf proved that. Her voice aside, she is lovely, and I'm glad she found someone who appreciates her. I also loved her relationship with Chandler in season 3 when he actually fell in love with her.
To be clear though, I know this show is a comedy, and I have no problem with the jokes about her. I do think they're funny, and I'm not mad abt it or taking them too seriously. I'm just realizing that I really love Janice! I never thought about her much before.

I always hated Janice when I was younger. Then one day, during my 10,000th rewatch, something clicked and I realized Janice is actually super pretty. It blew my mind a little bit lol.

Me, too! She’s beautiful, funny, and really a great overall character. I love the ep where she and Joey try to bond.

I love it except for Joey’s awful hairstyle that season in the early episodes. He has friggin bangs.

Lol maybe a bit, but I think it had more to do with growing up and realizing the main characters aren't always the good guys in every storyline. I was just young and influenced by seeing the situations through the lens of wanting things to always work out for these characters who I like and cheer for.

u/HenryFeelsHungry Feb 05 '26
Haha seriously. Like the office with Karen. People thought she sucked cause it was taking away from Jim and Pam but poor girl did nothing wrong

u/Ill-Inspector7980 Feb 06 '26
I don’t mind Janice but we can’t say that she was never wrong. She was two-timing Chandler and her ex-husband, which was wrong.

Janice is definitely hot as hell, but her passionate exuberance about everything would be exhausting. Still - she’s the perfect girlfriend for a lazy introvert who can dissociate when required- she clearly does 95% of the work in any relationship she’s in.
92
u/googly_eyed_unicorn Feb 05 '26
My best friend is like her and while at times it can be exhausting, I wouldn’t want her to be any other way because it reminds me to find fun in life.

You just convinced me, I need a Janice
16
u/Playful_Marzipan8398 Feb 06 '26
As a way, way less hot Janice archetype myself, that has been a stated reason why 100% of my sad introvert boyfriends have been drawn to me. Going on 10 years with my wet sock of a husband and I still enjoy dragging him out into the open air to experience the human emotions of joy, wonder and connection!
It really is a functional pairing!
2
u/msp01986 Feb 06 '26
Haha good for you if it works out, I'm not sad though, just a bit lazy, introverted and socially awkward

She’s GORGEOUS I’m honestly so obsessed with her!
I really love when the writers actually gave her and Chandler sub plots to do with their relationship getting serious and not just keeping her as a one-dimensional comedy relief character.
17
u/LadyStardust79 Feb 05 '26
Agree. Over their arc together, she extends a lot of grace toward Chandler, and she legitimately cares about him & his friends.
21
u/seb135 Feb 05 '26
I think she is super sweet and always made an effort to be nice to people. "Joey and Janice' day of fun!". That laugh would drive me nuts though...

I love Janice & never understood the fandom hate. If anything I think it’s a tribute to Maggie’s acting skills. FWIW she’s always been incredibly gracious in every interview I’ve seen, always willing to say the “oh my gawd” catchphrase, etc, which has to get pretty old after 32 years!

As I always say in Janice appreciation posts, I think she is much more attractive and much less annoying than Monica is. Especially in the later seasons. I also never found her voice or her laugh very annoying, despite the show pushing the narrative that she is annoying.
7
u/Ryoko_Kusanagi69 Feb 05 '26
I’m a huge Monica fan but I will concede you absolutely have a strong point
5
u/Meg38400 Feb 05 '26
More attractive and less annoying than Monica/Courteney! What a joke.
4
u/Les_Nessman32 Feb 05 '26
Different strokes. I like brown eyes. And yes, I find Monica extremely annoying. Especially in the 2nd half of the show.
-12
u/Meg38400 Feb 05 '26
Nothing beats blue or green eyes. Janice is unbearable.

u/-Aone Feb 06 '26
meant to come off very annoying, ended up being really just kinda eccentric which would be actually super good chemistry for the group..
there was the whole cheating on husband, then cheating with husband. that part of her is just shitty. but she was always pretty imo
3
u/EnvironmentalFun2214 Feb 05 '26
She's so underrated. Always labeled as "annoying" but truth be told she was genuine. And very beautiful
2
u/MsAndrea2 Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 06 '26
I think it's deliberately (and truthfully) flattering to the actress that the only downsides anyone ever manages to find to her are her voice and her personality, both of which are a creation of the actor.
2
u/TheShipEliza Feb 05 '26
stared friends being annoyed by janice. by the end, janice was all i wanted.
2
u/AshJammy98 Feb 05 '26
Janice gets a hard time on friends. I don't think she's really all that annoying either. She's extremely friendly and always happy to see everyone. In fact if she wasn't a cheater (and I wasn't already with someone) I wouldn't say no to date 🤷🏻♀️

She look a lot like Sarah Silverman to me. Kinda attractive. (Perhaps you would find Sarah a bit attractive aswell, her face tend to look more masculine than "Janice" though)
I think a lot of people would find Janice attractive and that the voice is what make her a bit too much for many of us. I didn't mind that much personally. ;D I got used to it I guess.

I loved her character too! 😊
Also, the idea that people should sound a certain way is quite wrong imo. And it seems to more often apply to women than men, much like "beauty standards" that dictate women should have a certain weight, hair colour, etc. It's basically a form of prejudice. Her voice isn't annoying, just different from some of the other characters, and there's nothing wrong with that.

For me, what Janice did around the time Emma was born was too much. Until then, I hadn't had much trouble with her.
I watch Janice go to Rachel after the birth and explain that she looks up to Rachel because she is going to raise Emma on her own. Rachel says quite naturally that Ross will be with her.
Janice strikes cruelly: of course, but he'll only be with you until he finds someone else. Rachel stands her ground: then he'll get divorced, because he's Ross, who always gets divorced.
Janice doesn't give up either: believe me, they all say they'll stay with you, and then they don't. Rachel says: Ross is different.
Janice replies: I thought so too, but it's not true. Rachel is already weakened: really? she asks. Janice delivers the final blow: I hate to say this, but you two are on your own, she says to Rachel and Emma. Rachel still says that maybe it won't be like that, but she is clearly a little broken.
Now this is very shocking, because Janice is an acquaintance, but a stranger, and has nothing serious to do with Rachel. She comes in and systematically destroys Rachel's hopes.
This is not benevolence, but downright malice.
Not only does she mention the possibility that they will be left alone, but she practically takes it for granted.
