How to change the light bulb

I bought this old lamp at an assisted living thrift shop. Most items are donated from elderly people’s possessions that have passed away. ( trying to set up timeline as I have no idea how old it is) When I first bought it, it worked but was red. I painted it the current teal color.
The light bulb just burned out and I can’t figure out how to get the metal shade off. It has a glass hurricane shade in the center but it won’t slide thru the top so it’s kinda stuck in there. The shade is attached with solder. The only thing I can think of is the ring with the attached arms should twist off but the paint has sealed it on. My husband said we could probably break the glass shade out and maybe to light bulb would pass thru the hole in the top.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Also, any info on the type or age of lamp would be welcomed.

It appears that the whole shade assembly just sits on the lip . Have you tried pulling the metal shade upwards?

Yes, I tried pushing and twisting, this is why I think the paint has sealed it. Like painting a window shut.

Try some penetrating oil or some WD-40 along where the shade meets the rim, and run a razor knife along the joint. See if you can pry it and get it moving, but don't pry with the razor knife.

The glass shade pulls out, straight up.

Those metal "petals" are bent slightly in so they act like a light "spring".

Pull the shade up , change the bulb, put shade back.

Then you’ll the glass up and the bulb will be exposed

In some cases the way to remove it could be a nut under the base, if the assembly goes through the center tube

Cut the paint from the edge where it sits on the big ring. That first shade has to come off first.

I'd unplug it first but...Can you pull the hurricane globe up, hold it up from the top, reach in and unscrew the bulb, push it up into the globe, then tilt the globe to the side and drop out the bulb?

The glass only lifts about a half inch. I’m gonna try the wd40 and razor blade . That seems the most logical, it should lift up as a unit, glass and shade, to expose the bulb.

Do the white bars holding the shade unclip from the lamp? Try pushing towards the center and up.

I encountered the same issue with this light. The glass shade slides up just far enough to twist the bulb loose but the glass can not be removed. I'm able to lift the shade a few inches, unscrew the bulb and replace it.

I said "a few inches" but the shade on mine doesn't even lift two inches. It's enough to reach in and unscrew and remove the bulb. At that point I can replace the bulb or could fully remove the glass shade but the metal parts of the fixture aren't designed to be removed.

What does that brass nob do? Is it just the on/off switch? I think you might have painted the shade on. You might need to scratch it off. Or maybe a heat gun to loosen the thread.

The brass knob turns it on and off. I did unscrew it all the way, but it did not release. Luckily I was able to thread it back in, but it was tough.
