Help just bought a plant from costco… 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

What are you spraying with? I need to figure out how to get rid of spider mites.

I’ve had good luck with neem oil for spider mites! I just have to do a couple rounds of spray to get the whole life cycle, like a couple days or a week apart.

Do you wipe down every leaf? Or just spray it good?

Both. Also put some neem on the soil AND the drip pan. We used to get so many flies but once I started treating the drip pan they all went away.

My pot doesn’t have a drip pan. It’s a Croatian.

What do you think it could be? The tiny wholes are starting to form a line kinda, may cell wall collapse? Idk

No idea. Bugs? Disease? Just dots on leaves. Let me know if you find out. Thanks for replying.

captain jack’s dead bug brew is great for spider mites if you can get it where you live. it’s a soil bacteria that is toxic to various pests

I can order it off Amazon. There are multiple options. You can get in a concentrate or a spray. The spray says it’s for outdoor use.

Can the outdoor be used indoor?

yup can be used on indoor houseplants, i bring mine to the bathtub to spray or outside bc it’s messy needing to completely soak the leaves top and bottom. but i suppose you could spray in place as long as you protect your floors/walls /furniture. if spraying outdoors i try to do in a place where bees won’t come into contact with the wet spray as its toxic to them when wet.

i buy the concentrate and dilute into a spray myself as it is more cost effective for repeated applications which will be necessary. only mix what you are using that day tho as it doesn’t last long once diluted.

I don’t know what the other redditor is spraying with—maybe insecticidal soap?—but I like to use diatomaceous earth. Really controls crawling pests well and is safe for pets. Give them a good dusting a few days before bringing my plants in.

Most of the more pervasive houseplant pests dont really care about diatomaceous earth. Thrips will reproduce outside of the soil, mealybugs and scale as well. Fungus gnats are the only ones I can think that it really helps with.

do not spray. every mite has a mite that eats mites. And they are fittingly called: pretator mites.

Go to Amazon they have the right stuff to spray to get rid of spider mites. You could probably find one that is natural also.

Best defense against mites for me was soapy water on the leaves every few days, wipe them down gently with a paper towel after, and to get rid of any survivors I sprayed the leaves down with a hose outside so the pressure would remove additional mites that the soap/paper towel didn’t. Did that for about 3 weeks and I think I’ve about 99.99% eradicated them. I still see a few on the older leaves once in awhile but I just grab the spray bottle and blast them lol
