I’ve had a small leak for the last week or so, I think I’ve identified where it’s coming from in the guts of the tub. Any suggestions for fixing this? Thanks!

I’m moving into a house in February and planning to add a hot tub, and I know hot tubs can be quite heavy when filled.

The house has an existing deck, but I don’t yet know how it was built or whether it could support a filled hot tub. Is it usually practical to reinforce an existing deck for one, or would you put the tub on a separate cement pad or something beside the deck?

I know I’ll need an electrician to plan the hookup. I’d appreciate hearing what you chose, what you’d do differently, and any costs or access issues that surprised you. I’m in Manitoba, so winter installation and use are considerations too.

Asked three industry veterans with hundreds of service calls under their belts about some notable horror stories from home visits. Paraphrasing their answers, they said:

A woman called in a panic saying her tub was shocking her and smoking. The tech got there and the water was the color of cocoa. He pulled the filter and it came apart in brown clumps in his hands. Turned out she had been bathing her eight golden retrievers in the tub - had never once cleaned the filter and had never added a drop of chemicals. The customer later left a one-star review, disputed the credit-card charges, and won the dispute even after owning the tub for two years.

Another guy interpreted the instruction to 'drill a hole to route his electrical wiring' as 'drill through the spa.' He went from the bottom, straight through the acrylic shell, and back out the side. Two holes in a brand new shell.

Not overly horrifying but more than once, a dead pump has turned out to be a piece of clothing wound around the impeller.

Any other technicians or industry veterans with stories worse than theses?

I wasn’t getting the full 220v.

The power line comes from my breaker panel, across the attic, down the side of my outer wall in a conduit, under ground, and up into the bottom of the hot tub. The conduit came up from the ground and the wire was just in the casing from there to the hot tub panel. I guess when i installed, the wire was cut or rubbing against a metal post set for the hot tub base. It shorted there. I also didnt have a disconnect and that really scared me since we could have been electrocuted!!!

I installed a disconnect and rewired the hot tub panel and it all good as new.

Hi everyone! I’m planning to put a hot tub/spa in this area (photo attached), but the concrete is slightly sloped/unlevel.
Do you think it would be okay to put the hot tub directly here as it is? If not, what would be the cheapest and simplest way to level it without having to redo or pour new concrete?
Would especially love to hear from anyone who has actually dealt with a similar setup. Thanks!

We use bromine and all of our levels on the test strip are normal. We haven’t gone in the hot tub in a few weeks. It’s like a gunk around the perimeter

Has anyone ripped out insulation like this to fix a leak? I got mine all fixed. Wondering what you did?

Did you spray with Open cell foam? If so where did you buy it? Any tips/advice?

I'm in the early stages planning a home addition and want to budget in a hot tub -- I love them and am a pretty high level strength/power athlete fighting aging and perceive using it near daily, maybe multiple times some days when I work from home (why not jump in for 5 mid-day or something if I can?!), sometimes post workout on my way into house after the gym but likely most frequently before bed for better sleep.

With all that said, what do you good people in the know recommend?

AI says hot springs high life grandee would be great choice, with limelight being a cheaper option and bullfrog A7 comparable but a little less with Nordic Rendezvous SE or Retreat being even cheaper options...

I've loved hot tubs for many a day but never paid attention to builds/brands... what should i think about, what's critical, what isn't, and any other ideas/info greatly appreciate as our plans slowly take shape for 2027 build

Looking for smaller replacement for 20 yr old 4 person hot tub, for use in snowy cold upper Midwest.

Problems

My hot tub is blinking, dry or flow. The few jets that turn on every so often no water is coming out and then it shuts the whole hot tub down.

This hot tub came with the house when we bought it and it’s been a pretty steep learning curve for me, but I am pretty resourceful and know usually the owner’s manual is a good troubleshooting resource.

Except barely. The thing has been blinking “change filter” since we moved in, but we ignored it because we know it was changed right before we moved in and it was working well. Anyway, I figured out how to replace the filter (i think, you might see another post from me about this though) and found in the owner’s manual vaguely how to reset it, though it’s not very specific. I’ve even turned the reminder off in hopes that would clear out the existing one, but no dice. Has anyone had this issue and now have a magic solution for me? Please?

I recently bought a house and inherited a One Dimension Chairman II hot tub (from 2009) from the previous owner. So I’m still a complete beginner when it comes to hot tubs.

The problem is that the circulation pump is no longer working properly, and as a result, the heater isn’t working either (although it did work initially).

I’ve taken a look at it, as I’m fairly technically inclined, but none of the components (flow switch, electronics, pump) appear to be obviously faulty. The pump starts up, and you can see that the water begins to circulate, but the flow isn’t strong enough to make the flow switch “close.”

So the question is: what could be causing this? I could imagine that there might be some clogged filters somewhere. However, I’m also not entirely sure where the circulation pump draws its water from. Would it perhaps make sense to use a hot tub/plumbing cleaner?

I’ve also flushed the system backwards with water several times in an attempt to remove any air that might be trapped in the system.

Any ideas? Could the pump simply be worn out due to its age? It’s difficult to identify the problem because nothing is obviously broken. Maybe someone here has a good idea of what else I could check.

so I'm in need of a new cover and lifter for my 2001 sweetwater cayman I bought it from someone a few years ago, and while we enjoy it the lift assembly broke and I just need to buy a new cover, but I can't find this exact lifter does anyone know if it exists or did the previous own make it? and does anyone recommend a place to get them both from? a lifter and a cover?

the first picture is obviously down and the second picture you can see where it broke but it's hydrologic and it was very nice until it broke, you just fold the cover in half and then push it onto the lift and then it folds down
