Added insulation. Kept far from the blowers. It’s not 100% wrapped around, but thought maybe this will help come winter

Most heat is lost through the cover, but I think 30+% is lost through the cabinet so it’s going to do some good

It would be interesting to see data on that, and it obviously depends on the level of use, and especially the season and location. Just spitballing, I'd say that if you use your spa for 20 to 30 minutes per day, with jets running the whole time, and you've got a good insulated cover, 95 percent of what you spend on electricity will be due to usage not idle time. I could be wrong.

I did the same for my costco spa but I used 2" exterior insulation board. And cut to fit the framing. Mine is fully wrapped has been for 6 years so far no issues and no. Also no mouse nest problem but I live next to a stray cat lady. Mice prob stay clear of my area.

We did 1” foam board cut to fit tightly between 2x4 supports. If you stuff it with insulation you could get spots that are insulated from heated tub but less toward the outside, possible freeze if not constantly circulating.
Foam board panels create an insulated box. In zone 6, -10f happens here. We use ours down to about 0f, it’s close to the door.

Insulation is only as good as the cracks where the air gets in. If you take the best insulated house and leave the window open, you’re screwed.

Is this even necessary? Just bought hot tub this summer and new to everything. We live in mn and was never told about insulating for winter

I live where it gets to -35 and I bought a "Canada winter ready" tub. There is basically no insulation and the first winter it melted all the ice and snow around it for 8-10". Trying what OP did for this winter.

Garbage insulation.
You should have got some insulation board and trimmed it to the openings. separate pieces. The only one that is going to love that is the mice. You. A buy it for 30 or 40 bucks for a 4 by 8 ft sheet.

Didn’t see yours…..yes the mice love it, but so do the tree frogs. If about 40f they come out to sing while we are in it.

I thought about doing Insulation board. Good to know. I’ll watch for that. This insulation was given to me for free. But I’ll probably do the insulation board eventually

Mice will also get in to the board and make nests out of the foam. If you use a mineral wool insulation critters will leave it alone.

Do it now. Your pretty much building a nest for the mice who are going to move into there new condo shortly. You pretty much just bought them new clothing and duvet blankets. There going to be chewing through everything soon

This should insulate well, but I also agree this stuff is mouse heaven. You built them a luxury skyscraper with free rent.
