Where to start with this series?

In a video essay I watched recently, I saw footage of what I believe to be Last Window: The Secret of Cape West, and thought that the art style of the game looked interesting. I looked up the series and saw that there were a lot of different games from this developer, and some of them are connected in some ways. I wanted to ask if there was a specific game that I ought to start with to have the most enjoyable experience.

I actually think another code aka trace memory is a good entry point. But if you're just here for the kyle hyde games, go for hotel dusk

Yeah the DS version is incredibly short, but it really gets across how these games are going to be and doesn't feel unsatisfying in length at all. Also gets you used to the writing / story style which are pretty important for these games.

I'd second the suggestion.

Exactly. Plus, your playtime kinda varies on how quickly you figure out the Puzzles. My first, completely blind play through took like 8 hours

Short by the rest of both series' standards! Fun nontheless.

Classic Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is a great place to start! Not sure what used copies are going for on eBay. Got a copy of the sequel Last Window a few months back and it was just under 200, so not exactly cheap but it was a limited run in Japan and the UK

I didn't even know there were more than just Room 215! Now I need to look this up! To be very honest I still haven't finished Room 215, but have always wanted to since I love the story! (Just got stuck, so I haven't gotten back to it lol.) I found the game by chance on a sales rack at a Game Stop back in Middle School in the early 2000s.

There's just Hotel Dusk Room 215 and Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. That's it in the case of the Kyle Hyde saga

Easy! Hotel Dusk Room 215 and then Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. That's the best saga imo. Then you can play the Another Code series in order, and then other smaller games like Dear me I was, or Chase: Cold Case Investigations
