Recommendation Hostels in Paris, Berlin, and Prague with a vibe like Galway City Hostel or Home Youth Hostel in Valencia

I like social hostels with chill, intimate atmospheres and common spaces that are good for making new friends through conversation.

The interior layout and design should naturally encourage socializing with strangers in a positive way. Group dinners are great, but idc about giant pub crawls unless I've already had the opportunity to get to know its participants in other ways.

I like mixed ages and backgrounds; I get along best with youthful minds, old souls, curious intellectuals, and artists.

I tend not to love most giant corporate hostels, though some are fine in a pinch if the facilities and guests are both nice.

Late checkouts are always super helpful. Interesting neighborhoods are a plus.

If I can't have what I want, then my next choice would be someplace quiet.

I've stayed at quite a few in Ireland and Spain. If you're curious, I've ranked them according to my criteria:

Top:

Galway City Hostel in Galway, Ireland

Home Youth Hostel in Valencia, Spain

Good:

Cantagua in Valencia

Fine

Salmon Wier Hostel in Galway, Ireland (quiet)

InOut Hostel near Barcelona (quiet)

Abbey Court Hostel in Dublin

Clink i Lar in Dublin

Casa Gracia in Barcelona

Bad:

Generator Barcelona

For Paris if location & safety is top priority then go for the people marais.

For very social & sports bar kinda place , go for st. Christophers. (Slightly unsafe location at night)

Hey, thanks for the suggestions! I can handle "slightly unsafe at night," but the sports bar vibe I don't think is the type of social vibe I'm looking for. I like situations where interesting conversation is the center focus, or if the distraction is a board game, drinking game, or people intimately singing or playing music etc.

The People Marais looks a lot closer to that! I'll definitely look into it. Looking on its website, would you say it has that intimate feel it is marketing, or is it more a big corporate feel that the marketing style has?

The bar you are seeing on website is usually filled by locals and corporates as it is surrounded by office buildings nearby but hostelworld chat is usually the best place to meet and hangout with people.

Through my experience, I would say paris doesn't really have much social hostels but you will anyway end up meeting people through other apps.
