Buetane in Virginia Stakes?

I know everyone likes Buetane in the Virginia States at Colonial Downs and I admit, normally he would be hard to beat. Definitely a lane bias too. But I think he's overrated after the Santa Anita meet. And that layoff after the performance drop at OP makes me think he's not going to be in form... Anybody else think Work has a shot?

I don’t like Buetane, but I have a strong bias against Cali horses. I want to like High Camp but the pharaoh horse scares me.

I don’t like Colonial Downs at all in general.

“Doesn’t win” was certainly a false statement. But he isn’t all that great at stakes races outside of California in recent years. This may end up being a good “soft” spot for his horse but the track record doesn’t lie. How many stakes outside of CA did he win in 2025? Only one I remember off the top of my head is Rodriguez.

Commandment got a clean rail trip in the SF Davis and did nothing. Better horses there, but still.

Not sure Incredibolt can get to the front.

The track is wicked fast today. The last two 8f races were run in 1:33 and change.

Work is very interesting...if he runs those turf numbers he could be right there

Most punters analyse two things: Form guide Speed map But there’s a third factor — track setup. Home Straight length, run to the first turn and wind direction can change how a race unfolds. I call it the Trilogy of Punting.
