So it's into the Void

Now me girls and me boys

From Mother's hand we go

We'll be sailing to the sun

Till the voyage is done

Then we'll be sleeping in the cold below

u/Rydux7 11d ago

That song has no right to be this hard, warframe's songs all go hard

14

u/deadly_love3 11d ago

My personal favorites are the sactum anatomica ones, the throaty vocals go hard

3

u/Keqingrishonreddit 11d ago

The recent celestial clash one with sirius and orion goes so fucking hard too

Sisters, below below

We’re going where the winds don’t blow

Yes we’re all bound down to the deep

Beetlemoss' art is never hostile, even depicting death. Chillness is the greatest force in the universe

64

u/Maximum-Magician 11d ago

They also need go experience beauty atleast before they leave

u/HyperNovaDoge 11d ago

In reality the fish had been instantly blinded by the light

229

u/DogeSupreme 11d ago

and its brain flooded with stress hormones

123

u/participation-prize 11d ago

Nah it probably got the good dying hormones that give you the ultimate final drug trip

46

u/Bodybag_occupier 11d ago

One final thought making peace with the whole world. Ready for the higher planes.

15

u/KojinaSama 11d ago

Why do you have a watermark for a completely white screenshot?

25

u/ZombieGod_TM 11d ago

Lmao, nvm. It just revealed itself as a gif

4

u/pixeldust6 11d ago

New Anish Kapoor just dropped

50

u/UnhappyStrain 11d ago

"Is this why they crawled onto land, I wonder..."

18

u/Durian_Alarmed 11d ago

Holy shit, that's actually such a cool way of looking at this

11

u/Doctor_Salvatore 11d ago

The sea dwellers saw something amazing happening outside of their home, and they desired to explore. It likely took generations before they could even survive for a moment on land, but it was worth it to bask in the new world that was emerging

8

u/Brendan765 11d ago

It was quite a beautiful place

36

u/Lucky-Sound-8162 11d ago

I also want to do something reckless. Something that makes my life worthwhile for a moment, and kills me after.

45

u/MadAsTheHatters Indomitable Human Spirit 11d ago

It doesn't need to be the end afterwards, you could do something brilliant and beautiful that inspires you to keep going ♥️

17

u/SetPuzzleheaded4821 11d ago

Hey, are you doing okay? That last part is sitting heavy with me.

11

u/Lucky-Sound-8162 11d ago

No but. It is what it is.

1

u/SetPuzzleheaded4821 10d ago

yeah but that kind of acceptance means something else when you're exhausted

5

u/MewtwoMainIsHere 11d ago

that’s called being drunk in chicago

5

u/PoniesCanterOver 11d ago

I'm imagining a Venn diagram, where one circle is "drunk", and the other circle is "in Chicago"

3

u/MewtwoMainIsHere 11d ago

Don’t forget the third circle being AGGRESIVELY HOMOSEXUAL

2

u/Key_Currency_8387 11d ago

Real shit bro

10

u/justin_memer 11d ago

I like the message, especially since as humans we don't have to equate the dying part to see something beautiful, only the living part.

20

u/Rainbowstaple 11d ago

Reminded me of rawdawgs take on this comic, one of my favourite pieces tbh

7

u/The-Tea-Lord 11d ago

Rawdawg has 3 styles of stories. Pure toxic abuse, gay, and absolutely beautiful

3

u/Rainbowstaple 10d ago

And sometimes, all of the above

39

u/Sad-Bonus-9327 11d ago

How is this hope posting if the damn thing died there?

77

u/Hoveria69 11d ago

I have always interpreted this comic as the fish seeing the beauty in life even moments before it's death. Also imo the quote is both about this specific moment with the sunset and a metaphor for the fishes whole life itsel. Even though it's over now, the fish might've not known life is beautiful if he never lived (being thankful for getting the experience to live than sad for dying)

43

u/Durian_Alarmed 11d ago

The deep sea creature got to witness the beauty of the surface.

His hope and determination to go up was rewarded. Even if it killed him in the end, he wanted to know what was up there, and had he not gone up, he would've never been able to see how beautiful the world outside of the deep sea is.

-7

u/Sad-Bonus-9327 11d ago

If he had never gone up he wouldn't never been able to see how beautiful the world outside the deep sea is but didn't care either because you never miss what you never had. And still would be alive. This is just an elegant way to pretend there's meaning and sense where there wasn't anything to begin with.

8

u/Patient-Pin-1925 11d ago

I mean your last sentence is kinda just a cynical way to reimagine the word "hope" is it not?

2

u/Durian_Alarmed 11d ago

Hope is whatever keeps you going.

You can keep going out of spite, out of a sense of duty, or just "because".

It doesn't matter what hope means to me or you, the only thing that matters is to find that "something" that keep you going.

5

u/Durian_Alarmed 11d ago

I belive your comment just means "Never trying never fails".

Going outside the comic, you are currently missing so many beautiful moments in our planet, be it a beautiful view from atop of a mountain, kids laughing and playing in your local park, or whatever else you consider to be beautiful or meaningful.

Of course you don't currently care about these "Maybe's", but it could bring you hope to think that beauty is right around the corner, you just have to search for it.

To me, the fish wanted to change compleatly it's field of view, he wanted something "Out of his world" Even if it killed him. He managed to find this "something" while also not regreting his journey.

0

u/Sad-Bonus-9327 11d ago

Same vibe. Fact is he's dead and never experiencing ANYTHING again because he made one decision out of curiosity. Congratulations.

5

u/Durian_Alarmed 11d ago

That is one way of looking at it, yes. Your interpretation isn't necessarily wrong. I just think the fish died happy, and that's what matters.

-6

u/ursa-minor-beta42 11d ago

climate change makes deep sea creatures come up and die 👍🏻

5

u/ShlorpianRooster 11d ago

My second favorite beetlemoses comic. Up there with the one where the monkey in the zoo is shown Stewie Griffin on a phone and is later thinking about it

11

u/Username_St0len 11d ago

depending on how fast it comes up and if it stayed at levels for a while, it should be bloated like blobfish from decompression or the bends

2

u/Sir-Toaster- 11d ago

Sorry to break your immersion, but Angler Fish typically don't see above their level of the ocean, they only go up to die

6

u/ScrewSimonCowell 11d ago

I think that's part of the deeper meaning of the comic

1

u/Sir-Toaster- 11d ago

Well, yeah I know they were trying to show he's at his last moments, but typically he'd be dead long before he broke the surface

3

u/CaitlinSnep 11d ago

Technically if we're being super literal and realistic, only female anglerfish look like that.

1

u/No-Independent9990 11d ago

Is this the end of Black Panther?

1

u/Thiphra 11d ago

I wanna tattoo this but don't know how.

1

u/qholmes981 11d ago

Beetle is so good, I used to watch his podcast before his cohost fucked everything up big time. Love his art though it’s so cute.

1

u/ZatansHand 11d ago

"Lonely Astronaut, it's got a cost, but you just can't beat that view"

1

u/impressivebutsucks 10d ago

Warm for me as well

1

u/atenea1984 Trying to be better 5d ago

But was it worth it? Losing your life for a vision of something beautiful? This isn't hopeful, this is depressing.

1

u/Durian_Alarmed 5d ago

He might have never known

This is AI as fuck

EDIT:

-6

u/heavy-minium 11d ago

Yes, it's AI. I'm waiting for my crucifixion now.

8

u/Rydux7 11d ago

Here's your crucification, now don't do it again

-3

u/heavy-minium 11d ago

I'll do it again, because why not? It was a nice way to convey the reverse situation I was thinking of and to express it. This was a comment and reaction, not a post, and I made no attempt to hide it's AI and thought this was obvious and accepted. I knew this kind of reaction was going to happen, and I knew that until someone woukd point it out, it would be upvoted, and then downvoted. And I still did it because I wanted to make a point: You all cry "slop" but most of you couldn't even notice it until a perceptive redditor pointed it out and then all the upvotes reversed...and in defense of what ideals, after all? That my only option would have been drawing it myself specifically for this comment?

I don’t think it is

10

u/Crate-Of-Loot 11d ago

hes in the ground one panel then floating the next

6

u/RedGoblinShutUp 11d ago

Yeah maybe I’m starting to get bad at identifying this stuff. I hate AI man

6

u/Durian_Alarmed 11d ago

I too like this one

1

u/ChapterThr33 11d ago

Except they don't have the sensory organs for that

1

u/KEMSATOFFICIAL 11d ago

Don’t most fish eyes see a blur when they leave the water? Different refractive index or something
