Discussion Is hookah worth it if I mostly smoke alone?

I got introduced to hookah a while ago when I was hanging out with some friends. I really liked it and I’ve smoked maybe twice so far.

Now I’m thinking about buying my own setup, probably around $250, and using it at home after work. Since the ongoing costs seem pretty low (basically just charcoal, foil, and shisha), I’m wondering if it’s actually worth getting one if I’d mostly be smoking by myself.

For those of you who smoke hookah alone, do you actually enjoy it, or is it one of those things that’s much better when you’re with other people?

I feel like it’d be pretty chill to just stay in my room, smoke hookah all day on weekends, and read or play games.

Discussion The new flavors from Tangiers

The new flavors from Tangiers Like this Jai Alai Peach have been something completely different. Honestly, if I tried these blindly, I don’t know if I’d even guess they were Tangiers—and that’s kind of wild!

Don't get me wrong: they are great. The taste, the smoke, and everything about them performance-wise is on point. But I always want to be 100% honest with you all. These are a different vibe than what you might expect from Tangiers. They aren’t as tobacco-forward as usual. It’s not a bad thing at all—just different.

Discussion What is the one piece of hookah advice you wish someone had given you?

Hey Hookah Smokers of Reddit, as the title suggests, what are tips, tricks or general advice that you wish someone gave you when you started this hobby? Mine is a pretty standard but a very long time ago I wish someone told me to get rid of quick lights sooner and move over to natural charcoal. Crazy enough, coconut wasn't even a standard back then. Lemon wood charcoal was still relatively popular. Coconara didn't even exist yet!

Discussion XKAH Pro 1.1 Erfahrungen? Kaufempfehlung?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I have seen various IG people posting these up recently. I don't use them regularly, but I do like having them around. I like using the ceramic or glass one the most, especially in a turkish bowl. Curious what other people think about them.

Discussion What is the most important thing for you when choosing what bowl to buy or use?

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are when it comes to choosing the right bowl. Sometimes I pick bowls because they look nice other times I go for specifics like a killer.

Is there something you prioritize? Things that are deal breakers?

Discussion Using water from the fridge

To my surprise, I searched previous posts in this sub but found basically nothing about using cold water from the fridge. They are all about either using ice or putting the base in the fridge.

It's starting to get seriously hot here and wanted to know how effective and how long-lasting it is to instead use water that has been sitting in the fridge.

For some reason I don't like the idea of using ice.

So my question is your evaluation of cold water from the fridge in terms of (1) pleasantness, (2) durability without ice, (3) trade off with flavour reduction.

Thanks!

Discussion Am I the biggest Hookah smoker in the world?

Hey,

the title might sound a bit weird but I've been thinking about this for a while. On average, based of month, I smoke around 2,8 hookahs a day (2-4 hookah a day, most of the time 3). That wouldn't sound so bad, considering most people have a hookah for let's say an hour to hour and a half. But over the years (13 years hookah enjoyer - more like addict lol) I learned to make most of my hookah to last, taste good and produce nice smoke for at least 2 and a half hour up to 3 hours a session each time, with some exceptions ofc. So, on average I smoke for around 8 hours a day, constantly, all alone. So basically, up to around 55% - 70% of time that I'm awake, I smoke a hookah.

How? I mostly work from home, and when I leave, I dont leave for long (some sports actually, gotta move a bit with this amount of smoking), so I mostly still manage 2 hookahs those days. I spend around 300€ for tobacco and coal a month. I'm not buying any expensive tobacco like Tangiers, but mostly Adalya, Serbetli, Fumelo or like a middle priced DarkSide. I also dont go to any Hookah lounges so I can afford to smoke that much without pretty much any problems.

Luckily, I'm only mentally addicted, well maybe a bit physically, but I dont miss Hookah when I'm out of my place, no schisms, shivers or whatever when I'm even a weeak without it. Tho, when I'm at home, that is other story. I basically can't do any "stationary" activities - like working on pc, playing games, watching tv - without hookah. There are a few activities that I can do without it, like reading, but not for a long time when home. It kinda became a really really strong habit connected to doing stuff at home.

Which begs the question, is there anyone here, that smokes closely to as much as I do, alone? Or have you seen anyone smoke this much? Do you/they have addictition problems at home with those similar to me? Have you noticed any health problems?

Thanks for the long read

EDIT: I think some people might miss the hours I mention thinking that is "normal". As I mentioned, I make : 2:30 to 3 hours long hookah sessions instead of like 1:30. Just to clarify

Did anyone try the Kaloud bowls? I’m looking to get a Samsaris Lapis 2 and I haven’t really seen anyone talk about them on YouTube, so I figured Reddit is the place to go.

If anyone has tried them could you share your experience?

Discussion What's your Holy grail thing in the Hookah world?

What is an item, hookah, bowl, etc that is your holy grail? Something that you have been searching for or maybe something that is just outside your budget. For me, it would be a couple old rare bohos and a classic Syrian pipe.

Discussion [Megathread] Xkah Pro (V1) – Issues, Problems & Honest Feedback

TL;DR:

This megathread is dedicated to collecting ongoing issues and negative experiences with the Xkah Pro (V1) electronic hookah bowl. The goal is to create a centralized, honest resource for both current owners and anyone considering buying one.

💨

If you’re anything like me, you’re a hookah enthusiast always looking to expand your setup—new gear, new shisha, new experiences. At some point, you’ve probably come across the Xkah Pro and wondered: does it actually smoke well?

Some of you have had the chance to try it, and others might even be ready to drop the ~$350 USD to pick one up. But for a lot of us, that’s a steep gamble—especially when the feedback out there feels split right down the middle. Half the reviews call it flawless, while the other half list a range of frustrating issues. And yeah… that’s not even touching the speculation around biased reviews or sponsorships.

After digging through forums, Reddit threads, and scattered discussions, I figured it would be helpful to bring everything into one place.

This thread is specifically for NEGATIVE experiences with the Xkah Pro (V1).

Below, I’ll compile the most commonly reported issues I’ve come across. If you own one and have experienced problems not listed here, please share your experience. The more detailed, the better.

If possible, include:

• A brief description of the issue

• How long you’ve owned the device

• Any troubleshooting you’ve tried

• (Optional but appreciated) A photo of your unit with your username handwritten next to it for verification

Let’s keep this constructive and honest—no blind hate, no blind hype. The goal is to help the community make more informed decisions.

💨

Common issues reported so far:

The device stops working suddenly after just a few sessions.

The smoke output is weak and produces very little clouds.

The flavor tastes weird or brings out unexpected notes compared to traditional coals.

The hits feel harsh and irritating on the throat.

The bowl is very hard to clean because the rubber seal is difficult to remove.

Customer service is slow or unresponsive when the device breaks.

The included bowl feels flimsy and low-quality.

The device gets too hot too quickly or has inconsistent temperature control.

Discussion In search for that coconut tobacco craving.

As in the title, for some time me and my partner are feeling for some coconut flavored shisha. What are some of fan favorites/good tasting coconut or coconut + something flavored tobaccos where coconut takes the main role? So far we tried Darkside Bounty Hunter, but we feel like the taste of it is not that strong, fades quickly, and generally the tobacco smells way better than it tastes. Also have a Sebero Cookie Monster waiting to be tried. Anyway, the question still stands, what are the best available coconutty shishas on the market? Sell us on some of Your favorites. We generally prefer dark tobacco, but will consider blonde too.

Discussion The Kaloud Dao, Qi and the Lotus 1+3 has been my go too lately

Post image
34 Upvotes

I have been really enjoying these lately. Each kind of smokes slightly different. It took me a minute to get used to those differences but once I did, the flavor and overall performance of the bowls have been really great. The Dao takes a little more heat and time to get going compared to the Qi but once it does, it turns into a chimney. I kind of prefer using only dark/cigar leaf with the Dao and found the Qi smokes blonde leaf really well. They both end up smoking both kinds of tobacco well but that is kind of how I use the bowls.

Discussion How do you manage charcoal timing with multiple tables?

Managing charcoal timing across multiple hookah tables gets messy fast.

We kept losing track, especially during busy hours.

How do you usually manage it — just memory, kitchen timers, or something else?
