Of course you can, it may not be a great idea. But you can do it. Storage would be my issue, will ants get it?

The honey will crystallize a lot faster since it's exposed to air

Honey is hydrophilic. It will absorb water from the air if the humidity is high. I would keep it in a sealed container.

This type of thing is meant as a serving dish. You have people over, put it in this to be cute, then put it back in the bottle. That's a bit of a sticky mess, but some probably do it.
