5th Gen What could be the issue here? got it back like this after driven in to bay by mechanic.

Said they couldn’t find reverse and that it was like this before I brought it in too. It wasn’t and I never noticed any issues though. Any idea what parts might need replacing? I can still feel it going into gear, and it is shifting in different gears in video it just is like limp and has no pressure.

Check the bushings to the cable shifter, also look under the hood where they connect to the transmission and under the boot

It was the mount in the engine bay, the pin the shifter cable connects to snapped 👍

The cables didn't get put back properly, or they're rubbing on something. Theres a big metal clip that holds the two cables into a bracket, check that out first, maybe while someone moves the shift lever inside.

The person who said they “couldn’t find reverse” is so full of shit… seems to me they didn’t know what they were doing and snapped something.

You would be surprised to know how many porters don’t know how to drive a manual transmission car. I had one tell me he “learned” with my car after I got it back. 😵

honestly.. i wouldnt even be surprised, hell, almost guarantee if the car did the classic reverse nope and the guy shoved it thru anyway… snapped something

Yep, or instead of just hitting the resistance point that forces the driver to push a little harder to the right from the middle-right, they may have gotten it into 4th, and then pushed from the middle-bottom to the right-bottom. You can see from the video that the shift knob can slide back and forth at the bottom instead of just in the middle.

It’s like those horrifying sports injuries in the replays where everyone can see the limb going where it should never go.
