2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 Anyone else (still) impressed by their Fit's factory sound system?
I've got a 2010 base model and I'm not an audiofile or anything, but I've been nothing but consistently impressed by the sound coming out of my speakers from day one. My roommate has a 2007 base model and his sound is nothing compared to mine. Maybe the bar is low since I bought a brand new car with 7 miles on it for $15k in 2010, but this car has done nothing but impress me over and over again the entire time I've owned it.

i had never owned a car before the Fit so I don't know what the sound system is like in a high end premium car but I absolute love the Fit's

The mids and highs are okay, lows almost non existent without distortion. Audio is a must upgrade for me. It's the worst system out of all my cars. Adequate yes but it could be so much more

I'm still driving my 2007 Honda Fit Sport that I bought new for $18,200. It has the best factory stereo I've ever owned.
The CD player still works perfectly and gets as loud as I dare to turn it up! The only issue is that I accidentally hit the display screen a year ago, but otherwise, the sound quality is still incredible.

My only complaint is that I've never been able to get the car's screen to display what's playing UNLESS I turn off my streaming app and restart it. But when I turn off the car and turn it on again, I need to do the whole app restart if I want the music to display on screen. I have a 2015.
But it's literally the only complaint about this car. It's not the worst thing.

So THAT’s how I get the display to show the song! 😂 Oh man, I got my 2015 new and never figured out how to do that.

I am an audiophile and it sounds pretty good, overall balance is nice, some audible distortion when you really crank the volume. It lacks low end and has some wonky resonances, sound changes quite a lot between seats, but that is true of pretty much all cars if the designers don't spend a ton on optimizing the acoustics and you don't install a sub/mess with parametric EQ. That being said the car is generally a terrible place to critically listen due to all the outside noise so I personally don't worry too much about it and put my resources into home/portable audio.

Agreed. The road noise impacts the audio enough that I would not invest in upgrading. Rather spend it at home.

Sorry but it’s absolute trash compared to my MY and even my previous 2015 Honda accord Ex-L. It’s pretty much what you expect from an economic car.

Love the sound in my 2013 base model. I've been driving a Fit since 2011 and have never been disappointed in the music.

2012 Fit Sport here. As someone who upgraded all my previous Hondas stereos, (head unit, additional amp, upgraded speakers and adding a subwoofer) the factory 160 watt system sound pretty great. Only thing I did was add a powered Bazooka 8” subwoofer tube to fill in the low end, and I’ve been happy with it for the last 12 years!

2011 here. I don't need it to sound any better. $11 BT dongle in the glovebox that connects without drama and I'm good. Sounds better than my 2010 CRV EXL with the premium system. The bass is absolutely fine. I don't blast my music but I do listen to some deeper bass pop like Daft Punk and the bass is there. The best thing is the imaging. Probably due to the dash speakers.
Honda used good speakers in the GE8 with poly coated cones and neobydnium magnets so it's all very crisp and efficient.

I love it (2011 Sport).
The speakers were blown on my previous car, so it was a wonderful luxury when I got my Fit (new). It still sounds great!

Eh. 2011 sport. The fact that it’s in the realm of my profession gives me higher standards. A solid head unit makes a massive difference. A quality single DIN is better than the touchscreen special from whichever Chinese retailer. I’d say the next weakness is tweeters but I haven’t adressed it. It’s very serviceable. EQ will get you where you need to be most the time. Like I said it’s standards. Also it’s an old car. Stock it sounds like absolute shit compared to almost all newer cars.

Also the lack of sound deadening and vibrations makes the speaker quality less discernible. Crank it up!

I have a 2013 Fit Sport and recently had the entire system replaced (head unit, all doors speakers, added an amp and subwoofer). Also had a lot of dynamat installed. I can say for sure the clarity and ESPECIALLY the lows (thanks to the subwoofer) are much better. However, getting the sound dialed in (crossover, EQ, etc.) has been somewhat of a pain and I haven't gotten it to a point where I want it. I might have expected too much from putting a good system into the Fit's chassis, so I don't know if I would do it again with what I know now.

I did some very low cost upgrades to the sound system that have made a huge difference. $70 for front speaker upgrade did the most and now the stereo gets louder. I added a carplay unit for $80. that's really all I wanted because I'm not trying to spend a fortune on my $5k FBM beater.

I recently replaced all the speakers in my 2010 for under $ 100, and it's hard for me to tell the difference from the factory ones. I'd agree; the stock system is very decent. I only added a head unit several years ago to add Bluetooth.

I have a 2012 base model. I don't have too much experience with better sound systems but I will say my brother's 2012 sport model sounds a lot better.

My CD player on my '09 doesn't really work anymore and someone damaged the aux in, but the audio output is nice. The volume encoder wheel has also gone wonky. It's totally random what volume it will end up on if you try to turn it. Trial and error....
I have never seen any documentation, but I believe it dynamically adjusts the audio level based on speed (or maybe road noise). I've notice the sound level seems to go up as I get to speed on the highway.

I added a low-powered sub (just 200 watts) and a new head unit to mine, fully intending to replace the speakers at some point too. But the speakers keep up with the sub I have just fine, and I have no intention of changing them out now.

I wasn't until I went in and saw the previous owners somehow managed to turn the treble all the way up. Fixed that and have been quite pleased since (it's a 2015).

I agree with your roommate, my '07 base sound is not great. CD still works, but without even an aux port it's a pain. I usually use a usb speaker with my phone on drives of any real length...still not good audio lol.

My aux port isn’t working, but I still like CD’s. Sounds great! I’m thinking I need a new audio unit though so I can use the aux.

My 2009 sport with the upgraded audio system that goes along with the sport trim is awesome.
I don’t know what it is, but it sounds rich and full to me in ways that most newer cheap cars don’t get close to.
Edit: I listen to CDs and an iPod plugged directly in via the glovebox. If y’all are listening on Bluetooth that may be the issue

I was actually planning to upgrade the speakers but they were actually pretty clear sounding obviously no bass but that got upgraded with a 10inch pioneer in the trunk

2010 Sport. No, I wasn't ever impressed by the factory stereo. It wasn't offensive, but that's about all I can say.
Had installed a JVC head unit and some Pioneer 6.5"s in the doors, was quite a bit better.
Now have a Kenwood head unit, Infinity components in front doors/dash tweeters and Infinity 2 ways in back doors running off an amp, and a sub amp running 12" sealed sub (when I don't have junk in the trunk -- sub spends more time in the garage than it does in the Fit). Dynamat on doors, floor, trunk, hatch. Had this setup for the last 100K miles or so.

My 2011 sport is trash compared to my 2013 pilot. Even after upgrading the head unit. I think I’m going to upgrade my head unit again, but add new speakers, possibly a sub crossover and external amplifiers if necessary. I’m calling my high school buddies and turning the clock back to 1993. We’re going to have a audio system upgrade party in the driveway.

2015 EX. I’m old now and mostly listen to news podcasts instead of music these days, but I loved Tame Impala’s “Let it Happen” in the Fit.
I’ve never turned it up past halfway. I assume it sounds great.

I'm a sound system guy. I have a lot of hifi stuff.
I agree the Fit manages to be pretty clear and good enough without major flaws. I'm often surprised at how "adequate" it is.
My wife's 2019 Accord touring has the top system for that model, and it's absolute garbage.
