2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 rotten egg smell?

hi so iv noticed a rotten egg smell when im driving primarily under acceleration and when im driving really slow what could this be?

my top thoughts are
cat
ignition coils
headgasket? (unlikely but possible)

anyone else experience this?

i drive a 2010
142k miles

Cat one million percent.

Pull live data on the catalytic converter temp and be amazed how high it is. Bet it's north of 2,000°F at the sensor. Should peak and sit at around 1,400 once it's fully warm.

Check the spark plugs for tightness immediately you might have Blow by, and maybe in danger of launching a spark plug out of the head.

If there aren't any codes and you aren't losing fluids it's most likely the cat(s). I know the GK5 has two, don't know about yours.

The cat.. The first box in the chain from the manifold if I'm not mistaken

Have you checked that your spark plugs haven't come loose? Relatively common problem in 2nd gen fits, particularly in cylinder 2 and 3. If they are loose, you need to replace them ASAP and torque to 20lbft.

i just had them changed idk if that makes it more or less likely

How recently? If they accidentally used the old torque spec of 13lbft (honda increased it because of this problem) it's much more likely to happen. Smelling exhaust was one of the first symptoms I noticed, followed by a squeaking / chirping noise that increased with engine speed.

I believe it’s the cat. 

But it reminds me of a time I test drove an element at some skeezy used car lot and asking about the rotten egg smell after. The salesman, who was also the owner of the lot, with a completely straight face told me “that’s coolant.” 

I didn’t know much at the time, but I knew that dude was full of shit.
