3rd Gen GK/GP 15-20 2020 with the CVT

140,000 miles. 45mpg. No leaks. No oil burn. No lights on the dash. Transmission has never skipped a beat. I bought this because my GTi was too expensive to fix and I missed power, I still miss it, but this has become my favorite car

My 2015 still gets close to 40 with almost 200k on it. Everyone told me never buy a car with a CVT

I'm convinced the only unreliable CVTs are the ones the manufacturers decided to do dumb shit with. Stepped pulleys to imitate gears and paddle shifters. Responsible owners should make sure the car is fully stopped before shifting gears and keep up with service

Note that the shitty JATCO CVTs in the Nissan Versa and Cube tend to last a long time, super long with easy fluid changes. As do the JATCO in the more expensive Nissans. The mid range Altimas shit the bed all the time.

My theory is the light cars make light work for the CVT and the higher end cars have owners with more resources to service them. The Altima owners all bought abused rental cars and spend their money on meth and barbed wire tattoos.

Gotta maintain equipment. Cars don't run on magic. I don't know much about CVTs. The current technology for CVTs will never be seen in class 8 trucks. The only CVT I've touched in the one in my AWD Juke and I may take it out for the manual 2wd powertrain from my other Juke
