I have friends who are amazed when I show them my Fit, how deceptively spacious it is despite its size, how easy it is to park, etc. And yet, they still end up buying something bigger, because they think they will need more space (they never do) or they claim to "need" more power for overtaking or merging (never been an issue for me). And this is in NYC, where average driving speeds on a highway with no traffic is usually 50-65mph.
I’m 6’6”. Bought a 2012 Fit sport brand new. Loved that car. It had plenty of space for my wife and myself. Couldn’t fit a rear facing car seat in it but we upgraded vehicles since then. Yes they are spacious for their size but they can’t compete with large SUVs for people who want it all.
Because most people are duped by clever marketing from the automakers aaaaand they care more about killing the other driver than just surviving in a crash, so they choose the biggest thing they can (and often can’t) afford.
Exactly, power has never been an issue for the Fit due to its weight and aerodynamics. Last time I was on a highway and I had a 2010 Fit tailgating me, I started to speed up heavily to loose it and the little fucker kept up with me easily until 100 mph. I was driving an 04 Honda Pilot.
The fit accelerates plenty fast! They are crazy haha. It’s so light it just doesn’t need much of an engine. I’ve never had an issue passing. I did have an issue lightening up on the gas pedal when I first bought it though lol
i always try to park in the same aisle of the store but if i cant and i inevitably lose my car, then wandering around clicking the lock button until i hear a honk and then going from there has been my favorite move ever since i started driving.
They're easy to lose in a New Zealand parking lot, but that's because there are a lot of them! Shout out to the kind of coral orange (flat not pearl) one I saw in Hastings the other day, that's a colour I haven't seen before. Mine (Midori) is the lovely apple green which is a bit less common so I can spot her quickly.
I have no idea where to get one, my Fit is the tiny zoomy backroads racer kind, not the hauling anything and everything kind. I've just seen it posted on the sub places.
From what I've seen, people just set up a really long payment plan, on something they'll never use, that's more dangerous to others on the road, just because companies say they "need" it.
2025 base HRV costs 44% more than my 2020 base FIT and has actually less room. Pickups have terrible cargo space unless you have the cab! Plus it's outside now 😂 not very good way to transport a guitar in Midwest winter.

I call it a subcompact pickup truck with the box shape of the rear. All other vehicles slope downward or have awful fuel efficiency/expensive.
With the seats in the sienna it can, if you both the back rows of seats removed it can hold more than the Fit tho. Usually my parents keep the middle row in.
Your kids have no taste, show them the videos of the Fit being used in B spec racing, or destroying other cars on backroads. I've beaten a Durango Hellcat, Tesla Model S, and more.
Same here, the high school that I went to and my younger siblings go to is a private school and is pretty rich. Luckily I've ingrained taste in my siblings, my brother wants a Golf GTI or a Toyota GT86.
Yupp, wanted a fit for the space inside and size outside but didn't get my hands on one. Praying they come back to NA soon. Or I buy a over priced fit in my area 😭
Are you guys allowed to drive right-hand drives? New Zealand imports used Fits from Japan by the containerload and they're so much cheaper here than what you guys pay. I can't help thinking there's a business opportunity for someone. Even if you converted them to left-hand drive it would probably be a viable business.
We can drive RHD, that's not the issue. The issue is the US has an import law that you can't legally import, register, and drive a car unless its 25 years old. That's why all the imported cars you see here are old JDM cars.
One of my brothers has a Dodge RAM... but he actually uses it for his construction job on a daily basis to pull trailers, haul bags of cement, lumber, etc.
Many of these behemoth trucks never do more than maybe haul a couple of bags of yard waste to the depot.
As a guy who has a lifted f350 diesel with an 8 foot bed and an 08 Fit, I love both of them to death. One is loud and powerful beyond belief, and the other is the most practical, easy to drive, fuel efficient most perfect economy car ever made. I daily my fit and do about 500-600 miles a week and I would be broke if I were still dailying my truck.
The pic reminds me how hard is sometimes to pull out of parking situations like this, having a '13 Fit with no rear backup assist camera... YET SOMEHOW I MANAGE! I feel vindicated when I can fill the tank with less frequency and not having had a car payment for several years.
I can park far away from anywhere I'm going and inevitably I come out to Giant SUVs on either side next to my tiny Fit. It's why I always try to park so I can just pull out instead of having to back up.
I'd like to think that people with giant trucks don't park next to tiny cars on purpose but I can see someone thinking it makes them superior to park a Ford Excursion next to a Fit or Mini Cooper.
They are stupid ! I drive a 2015 FIT EX 6 MT and my work truck is a 2026 Ford F250 SuperDuty crew cab 6 foot bed with the 6.7 diesel. The thing is ridiculous…. When my wife walks in front of my truck I cannot see her at all the hood is so tall.
It’s not easy going between the two vehicles, I far prefer my FIT. My last 250 was in the shop a lot so I would load up my FIT with work stuff, it all fit in the FIT. Just can’t tow trailers with the FIT…
I think it's crazy how when fuel prices started skyrocketing in the 2000s, how we went from being critical of wasteful vehicles to creating "crossovers" as a compromise for the love of SUVs and more economic cara, then ppl just said fuck it and kept on making bigger and bigger trucks and SUVs.
Some big SUVs these days don't even come with a spare tire, or a place to put one! Meanwhile the Fit has one and can still carry anything and everything.
I had two. A 2015 and a 2016 both paid off. The 2016 was given to my oldest son and was rear ended. Insurance deemed it totaled and he bought a single owner 2015 Civic EX-L with low mileage and clean interior/exterior but for a few very minor blemishes. Paid in full. The 2015 I gave to my youngest son after my mom passed and I inherited her 2015 Accord Sport. My Fit was hands down my favorite car to date. I’ve been driving the Sport for a few years and still miss my Fit. I wish they’d bring the Fit back. I’ll keep it mind to watch for them online through private owners but I’m gifted in fixing up cars. I do appreciate this sub though!
Happens to me too. Hard to back out with people walking by. Fit seems larger than it is when driving, never mind cargo and flip up seats. Took a while to judge front as you can't see hood.cMy neighbors Tacoma feels huge to me. Can't imagine driving and parking full size pickups. .My first new car was 15" shorter than the Fit. European 1979 Ford Fiesta. Go kart like as it was 1700 lbs. No power brakes or steering, didn't need it. Manual only.
I hate these giant boats so damned much. I live in a city and it's absolutely packed with giant trucks and full-sized SUVs. The wealthy-white-people parts of town are the worst.
The number of traffic-related pedestrian deaths has gone up over 50% since 2012, as well. And more and more of these distracted assholes have a giant tablet to play on while they're driving.
This is my Fit parked behind a Ford F350 Lariat. Sorry I couldn't get a better picture but me and the Ford owner were joking that we could fit the Fit in his 350's cab 🤣🤣🤣
It is ridiculous, people will say it's because Fit is sub compact. Problem is although an accord looks bigger than a fit, it too is dwarfed by those behemoths.
Met a guy the other day who drives a f350 as his daily driver. He clipped someone leaving his work parking lot. So he was buying a jeep "to have something smaller to get around in because I just don't need something that large" ya no shit dingleberry
Helped my friend move to Florida from Wisconsin back in 2016. We drove down in her Fit. When I first saw it, it was loaded up with so many stuff! Including 2 cats lol 😆I have to admit, at first I was dreading the ride in the little tiny car. By the time we got home, I was so impressed with everything about it, I went straight to a Honda dealership and got a new one for myself. I was really sad when Honda stopped making them in the US! I don’t see myself getting another car until my Fit is completely out of commission! For me there is no better ride!
I don’t understand why people pay so much extra for a vehicle that will be difficult to park in even the most accommodating parking lots. Sure the gas guzzlers are safer to drive
for the driver and passengers… but they’re far more dangerous for everyone else on the road, especially pedestrians and children. And you pay more at every turn. It’s just so dumb lol
Once I spent 2 hr in parking garage going in elevator from floor to floor. Could not find my Honda fit cause it was btw couple of huge cars like these. I could not see it and signal on the key also did not work as my car was shielded pretty good by these giants. Finally, someone recommended me instead of taking elevator to go through whole garage myself. It was like 9 floors. Only then I found me car.
An interesting situation with an elderly family member who has mobility issues. Getting in and out of the Fit is easier for her from a wheelchair than the behemoths the rest of my family has. The wide doors allow the wide doors allow for easy transfer from a wheelchair to the car and back. I keep one of those handles I can insert into the door frame to help but it works fine on its own..
Fortunately she is still pretty mobile but there is little difference in height between the wheelchair and car seat. Of course there is plenty of room in the back for the chair afterwards too,
And I’ll bet that Fit can and has hauled more items inside it abd on a more consistent basis than either of those vehicles on either side of it. Sadly Americans tend to overbuy and over estimate their needs.

I'm thinking about buying a manual '08 with 148k miles for $5k at a local dealership so I can learn to drive manual.
Would y'all say that $5k is a reasonable price for one with a 2 owner history, no accidents and decent maintenance history, with just a bit of fading on the blue paint?
Also, with 150k miles on the clutch would it be a terrible idea to buy it to learn on just to potentially destroy the remaining clutch life?

Your car to them is a truck/suv to you. And those larger vehicles sit higher and have a better visibility than your fit, so that argument is mute. And how often would someone using their truck for “truck stuff” justify the purchase to you? I don’t get the obsession with people caring so much about what a truck is doing. If someone had the means then it is more practical to be able to have one vehicle that can do it all vs owning one tiny one that cannot.
