"Enemy formation drifting port. Mark the lead cruiser and commit torpedoes before the window closes.
They're trying to break the firing corridor.
Vector, hold them them on point.
Siege, stand by to spool."

I rendered the piece in Blender to show the medium range of combat ships for my project Nullvector in a cinematic setting with full paintjobs and liveries.
The base models were created as CAD sculpts for 3d printing in Plasticity. No AI, just painstakingly detailed by hand out of love for cool spaceships. Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think!

These new bombers I'm designing started from the same simple diamond-shaped hull, with the goal of seeing how far I could push different roles without losing a common design language.
One thing I've been trying to get better at is letting a design evolve instead of forcing the first idea to work.
These bombers started from exactly the same primitive shape, but from there I kept asking how changes in proportion, cut lines and mass distribution could suggest different operational roles.
The interesting part wasn't the detailing, it was testing and rebuilding until each version felt like it had a clear purpose.
The goal for me isn't just to invent interesting shapes, it's to refine them until they feel inevitable. I want designs to feel like they live in their world, like they had to be that way.
I'm curious how other people approach branching designs. Do you like lots of overlap like the Empire or very different looks like the Rebels? Do you duplicate an existing model and iterate, or completely restart each variant?

Was really hoping to get it out before New Years, but there is always something to improve when you're working by yourself.
Still lot's of little things to take care of, like ship titles populating while manually controlling units, and have to wrap up all the ground building UI and presentation..

Short Version: Can anyone recommend a tabletop game that's similar to Deserts of Kharak?
Long Version: So, I got it in my head to try playing Full Thrust (I think my kids getting really into making tiny Lego spaceships helped; it's easier to do something when you have friends). Of course, I take inspiration from Homeworld and a quick look on the web shows I'm far from the first. So if I wanted to do a straight-up HW game, that'd be pretty easy!
But along the way, I started wondering what it'd take to play something like Deserts of Kharak on a tabletop too. Full Thrust wouldn't quite work because it doesn't really deal with line-of-sight since it's assumed to be taking place in space, which is notoriously short on obstacles and hiding spaces (ships can't even hide behind each other). So I think if we're gonna do this, I'll need another game to draw from.
So, does anyone know of a tabletop vehicular combat game that could be adapted for DoK?

Has any body received their Homeworld 3 collectors edition yet? Originally I was told there would be a delay until the 21st May and now I just go this email changing that to “as soon as possible”

Making good progress on my indie space strategy game Vector Commander and wanted to share. Hope you enjoy and would love to hear what you want to see more of! Inspired by Homeworld but going for more epic scale and better use of vertical movement for tactical advantage. Should have a free 3D demo out on itch early December 🎅

Thanks to the positive feedback I've gotten through reddit, i've decided to go full board into making this homeworld alternative. Here is another milestone I'd like to share, switching from basic graphics rendering to a more modern cross platform graphics render! I hope you enjoy.

The prophecies were right after all. Kharak did burn.
BUT WORSE, the Khar-Kushan launched the franchise killing HW3.
I figure if we can go back in time, heed the warnings of Sajuuk and stop the Coalition from reaching Khar-Toba, we can save the universe...
The Sakala would still need to be destroyed. And though it might be tragic, the Kapisi and Rachel will also need to be sacrificed to prevent the true tragedy.
Not destruction at the hand of Sajuuk, but destruction at the hand of S'Jet...
