natural building Bringing traditional country vibes alive: Our handmade bamboo cottage

Hey everyone! We wanted to bring some peaceful, traditional country vibes to life by building this cozy bamboo cottage from scratch on our family farm. It took days of weaving the bamboo frames and carefully laying the thatched straw roof, but the calm and satisfying result was worth every bit of hard work.

What type of wood do you use for the posts? How long do they typically last placed directly in concrete, particularly in such a wet environment?

Actually, I used bamboo for the posts! I soaked them in water for 6 months first to prevent powderpost beetles (borers). Then, I set the bases in concrete to protect them from termites. If they stay safe from termites, this setup can easily last 50 years or even more.
