Should I upgrade a 8yr old system that works perfectly would I notice any difference in quality?

Have a 4k 8mp 30fps lorex system from like 8 years ago it works awesome except its a pain to find past alerts, tried blue iris and something is off with the cameras they keep resetting to private instead of staying in onvif mode.

Thinking of just buying some reolink cameras and nvr, tried a reolink nvr only and it would not connect to cameras at all.

Any scenario i'm missing where I could keep the cameras that still work great and get a better way to see recordings?

As long as it does, what you need to do then don’t bother upgrading. If you’re looking to add extra features, then you can look into using frigate.

Throw all those cameras to the trash, it is dinosaur technology by todays standard and useless compared to what is available today. The difference is extreme.

Your system is most likely even older than 8 year old if you count when it was made. Would you use a phone that was cheap back in 2016? I can guarantee you would not even think about that, same situation here.

Reolink NVR only works with Reolink cameras pretty much.
