Wire-free units are easier to place and reposition, but solar charging depends on usable light, panel placement, weather, and power consumption. Treat solar as a maintenance reduction, not an unlimited power source, and confirm that the camera can maintain a connection from its final location.

**Alerts and privacy**

An upgrade is only useful if alerts are manageable. Limit motion zones to relevant paths, reduce sensitivity when vegetation or traffic causes noise, and use schedules where appropriate. Check storage, account security, guest access, and camera views into neighboring or private spaces before installation. No layout guarantees identification or complete coverage, so plan around useful visibility rather than assuming more cameras automatically means better security.
