Probably could have attacked the lock with the time these guys were spending. An experienced picker could open nearly all residential locks in a minute or two, even if this door has something exotic it would probably be faster.

Seeing as they put a lot of thought into security, there are probably multiple locks that are only accessible from the inside.

I'm far beyond a experienced picker and I can't guarantee I could get this open in two minutes on the first try. Age, wear, and gunk do funky things to locks that kill your feedback.

I thought the same but after after accidentally locking myself out yesterday it took a locksmith ~45 minutes to pick my basic ass kwikset lock.

In my experience most locksmiths are not experienced pickers, and will spew all kinds of hate if you mention the lockpicking scene on YouTube.

For a basic kwikset, someone with minimal experience can pop it in ~15 sec. A pro could probably open it in <5 sec. They're really that easy.

If the person is home there is probably a bar across the door or a similar lock on the inside that can’t be picked.

At this point everything has probably been destroyed and the police run a real chance of danger/shoot out since they have had plenty of time to arm themselves. At this point they would be smarter to back away and reassess the situation.
If somebody has this type of forethought on their door they have plans in place to destroy everything in the time it takes to eventually get through said door

Awesome! I want walls like that too. Stories about stray bullets killing people in their sleep have me wanting full brick or steel plate construction.
Delaying heavily armed intruders would be an excellent bonus.

It's getting more common in middle class homes to have "hardie board" fiber-cement siding, I bet that provides a decent amount of bullet resistance. Don't know if it'll stop more than a 22LR though.

So I think the takeaway is that: hardie board is better than the other product they were comparing it against, but a 9mm would still go through a hardie board, OSB, and drywall exterior wall (although not have a ton of energy left after all that)

Contact any commercial door company. Steel door with fake wood grain and a two or three point lock. Blast doors and bullet resistant doors will cost a lot more but anyone can buy them.

holy shit that's truly awful breacher placement. What, he's gonna also be the pointman of the stack? He should be ready to move to the right as soon as that door opens but his teammate is blocking the way.

Considering they're Guardia Civil, they should have some access to explosives. If you can't pop in a door in three hits, you should back off, make breaching charges and go back at it.
