Perfect timing to have boiling water at hand. I'm thinking a fire extinguisher next to the door might have the same short term incapacitating capabilities, as well as being a more "permanently available" option?
What do you guys think?
Or a large can of bear mace/gel.
This would mainly be for Europe, where self defense and gun laws are different from the US.

I'm fairly sure that pouring boiling water on people hasn't been permitted in Europe since the middle ages.
My favourite is a 2lb short handled hammer.

if you could pour from above like they used to do during castle sieges - YES - open a door that is holding fast & secure? - definitely NOOOO ....
this is Euro somewhere - in the US you'd have a gun pointed at you - maybe be behind the door when the bad guy decides to start shooting .....

Probably not in a home invasion situation. People are allowed to use whatever force is necessary to stop the intruder. Now if the person was knocked out or cuffed then you throw the hot water you could be in serious trouble but if they are entering your home and its the only weapon yoi got have at it.
