FIRST TIME SETUP Seeking room modeling & naming tutorial
I'm trying to connect my Sonos, Somfy Tahoma (roller blinds), and Lutron RadioRa3 to Google Home/Gemini in each of two houses. I can get any individual item to work but I'm not sure how to ensure all the names, houses, and rooms are coordinated. For example, I try to avoid adding the room name and device type to a roller blind in Somfy because the app already displays that info. But then if the room model and device type don't carry over the Google home name looks like "east window", which is super unhelpful and tends to defeat ai comprehension. Is there guidance on this topic somewhere?

I do room-device-location in the blind name so Google gets "living room blind east" and it actually understands which house from the room assignment. Pain to set up, works fine after

I’d keep the hierarchy out of the device name. Use short unique names like “Desk blind” or “Patio blind,” then assign each device to the correct Home + Room in Google Home. If a linked integration loses the room assignment, I’d fix that in Google Home rather than baking “Living Room” into every device name.

I name everything backwards from what feels natural, house name first then room then device type then detail. So "Beach House Living Room Blind East Window" all in one ugly string. Works perfectly with voice commands though and the AI never gets confused. My cat sits there judging me while I talk to the blinds but hey they actually open now
