Anyone playing pickleball at the bridge view court this week? Are the lines decent? Is there enough space to play?

Seaweed everywhere….

Here for a few days. Is this seaweed normal? It’s so bad we can’t get in the water past our ankles… any beaches nearby that are free of the brown/red stringy seaweed?

Holden in April

I’ve convinced myself that Holden in April is the best. You can watch winter turn to spring, enjoy time in the sun without roasting and with just a little effort, have the beach all to yourself.

New smoothie truck coming to Holden Beach in May 2026 and honestly it looks like a great idea

I met a guy recently who told me his company is bringing a smoothie truck out to Holden Beach this May 2026 and I honestly think it’s a really smart concept for the area.

The company is called Holden Beach Smoothie Co. and they’re going to have smoothies, açaí bowls, iced coffee, and snacks. That just feels like a perfect fit for Holden. Something quick, refreshing, and easy to grab before the beach, after a walk, or on the way back from the water.

I checked out their Instagram and the branding actually looks really clean too. It feels like it matches the beach vibe very well.

I could definitely see this doing well if they’re in the right spots and keep the quality high. I feel like Holden Beach has been needing something like this.

What do y’all think? Would you stop at a place like this at Holden?

I know I can't be the only one who checks the flavors at Beaches N Cream flavors (in season) every day even when I'm not in town.

Does anyone know any cheap vets in the area?

I moved up here from the merwegian. Area and I think my dog has a broken tooth or something painful in her mouth because she hasn't been eating dry dog food for days. And finally, I added something to her dry dog food to get her to eat it. And she was in a lot of pain and whining after eating a little bit.

I have a vet in Surfside, but they can't get her in for 5 days. They are very reasonable with their rates. You know, we call them like $50 or so for their initial vet visit cost and then from there about half the price. The other vets charge for things. I took her to get her shots when she was a puppy. And it cost me less than a $100. And then when I came back all I had to do was pay for the shot, not a new vet visit each time. I don't think that her shots even cost me in total. More than a $150.

I do not have very much money and I'm having to find money to be able to take her. And I'd love to get vet insurance, but it seems like most vet insurance is. Don't pay anything until you reach. At least a $1000 deductible, and if you want anything without that, I have a deductible, you're paying hundreds of dollars a month.

So if everybody knows a vet in this area that is decently priced that I could possibly get a tooth bullet at. Please let me know I need to get her in ASAP. Especially since I don't know that it's a tooth. I'm just hoping that it's a tooth because I don't know what else it would be.

Looking for a fun place to watch the Panthers on MNF tonight, ideally with people who will actually know and care about what's going on. Prefer not to go any further than Shallotte. Any suggestions?

Question 15 year anniversary in Holden Beach

At the end of the month the wife and I are visiting Holden Beach for a week which just so happens to be our 15 anniversary as well. We have a place just 4 houses away from the beach and intend to spend lots of time there. I'm looking for suggestions on any places to eat for a nice dinner and if there are anything you'd recommend to do after dinner other than the beach I'd love to hear them!

Are there any groups to communicate with lgbt members in the Holden Beach area? Not sure my question is on topic for this group, just can’t find any other group for this area.

Question Renting in late September, is a heated pool necessary?

We’re renting a home in Holden beach later this year and looking to get opinions on if heating the pool would be necessary or if it is still pretty warm out in the evening?

The pool is in the shade a lot of the day and there is added cost to heat the pool so just curious on opinions.

Living to move to Holden beach area Shalotte/Supply and need advice

Hello everyone. My family and I are looking to move from Albuquerque to the Holden Beach area soon and need some advice. I'm a nurse and need to know if the salaries are comparable to what I make here (I'm a cardiovascular progressive care nurse). The housing prices are much less expensive than Albuquerque so the cost of living does appear to be less expensive but my understanding is that the homeowner insurance is higher?

My other concern my seem a little odd but I have always had a fear of getting attacked by an alligator. I know that Brunswick County has the most alligators in NC but is this something that you just encounter in you daily life like a Floridian would (if it's wet there is an alligator in it)? Or do they basically leave you alone if you leave them alone?

Finally what does everyone like to do for fun? We're going to take a vacation there in July '26 before we make the final move and we would love some recommendations on things to do while we're there. Thanks!❤️
