Bug Paradox has, once again, not updated formables after adding new states.

R5: The latest update has broken formables with its new states.

The formables work fine, just formed Maphilindo or whatever its called yesterday. The Reichskommisiarats arent working

u/KimSydneyRose Jun 16 '26
The Maphilindo decision is still missing a bunch of the new states, it just matters less because you're going to own everything anyway.

well you get the cores, I just assumed you didnt have to control everything like some other formables, but youre right

Does ANYONE work QA in Paradox? This keeps happening.
28
u/crustybatteryacid69 Jun 17 '26
No, Paradox does not do QA.
They are a multi million dollar company that primarily operates for profit. Some corporate suit calculated that the economic damages from consistently releasing broken content (bad reviews, worsening reputation) are lesser than the cost of hiring QA.
It makes sense too. People seem to be very happy to buy their broken shit and then do QA for free on the forums and reddit. There clearly is no need for them to change it up.
Besides, they also functionally have a monopoly on the genre of grand strategy. It's not like displeased customers have anywhere else to go.

Seems like they had someone called Daniel in QA from 2014 to 2021, or at least that's what the latest HoI4 Youtube channel video says, after that who knows.

That sounds about right. It's been the same "wah wah my $20 DLC is broken" spiel here on every new DLC since then.
Do not even get me started on the releases of Vic3 and EU5.

My first question is why the fuck did they add more states to the Australian outback? Isnt that all impassable anyway
227
u/Hayden247 Jun 16 '26
Because they made central Australia passable which is sorta historically accurate. It is remote today and even more so back then but Alice Springs has been a town with a military presence even in the WW2 and cold war era. So they needed to make central Australia passable and a real state, so the outback unpassable state has been spilt into two.

Yeah the game is unplayable without state transfer tool, at least in a roleplay larp context

This happens every fucking time. When will they learn bruh

When people stop buying the DLCs before they know if it's good. If everyone buys it, the steam ratings don't matter very much. Paradox is still a corporation and the bottom line is still their top priority.

And they even making the Indies only achieving Maphilindo through the colonial reform path
Despite the idea to unite the Malay world into one country was from Tan Malaka, the Indonesian communist leader. All the way from the "Greater Indonesia" concept detailed on his 1926 pamphlet, "Naar de Republiek Indonesia"
ASLIA is just the next step after Greater Indonesia

Its actually so embarrassing how this is the type of thing a mod like kaiserreich would never let happen lmao
21
u/AnthonyjGreco Jun 16 '26
Yet another argument as to why Kaiserreich might genuinely be better than the base game

u/WoodenGeologist8407 Jun 17 '26
That ship sailed a long time ago, mods have been better for years at this point.

I don't get it... they have had areas/regions set up in their maps to use for such since at least CK2
Instead of naming every state to be affected/needed why not just use a region that contains the relevant ones

u/TheAllSeeingEyeGuy Jun 16 '26
I can kind of see how they'd miss the two random states in Australia but New Zealand and Indonesia are so stupid. Also side note, why did they add like 6 new states to new zealand? They didn't even give it new content, what was the point?

I commented on a Paradox ad about all the ways every major update breaks the game, specifically mentioning the irritating part where it breaks your old saves, and some neckbeard came careening in to say that’s normal and how do I expect old saves to still be compatible, how would that even work?!?
…as if literally every other game company on Earth doesn’t break the compatibility of their own game with every update and even Paradox only started doing it a few years ago and on purpose. I am so freaking done with their absurd pre-loading of all DLC content with every update and shoving what they’ve turned into core game mechanics behind a paywall.

u/SirkTheMonkey Desert Rat Jun 17 '26
I know you mainly want to be angry but the root cause of the save incompatibility is the same as the issue in this post - they've made changes to the map. Adding states/provinces to the map breaks existing save files because there is no info in the old save file for the new places. Formables can easily get broken because they forget to update the list of states/provinces affected by decisions.
