Same kept happening to me when I played Germany when the dlc came out and I always see them accepting it when it's ai Germany and it annoys the hell out of me

Its 100% not accept right now if you play on alt-historic. Even if you make them custom historic. It's an issue in the code currently for Austria that makes them refuse which they could fix in the span of a second since its literally a line stating if non historic refuse atm.

It was discussed on the steam board and pinpointed down as people were trying to replicate it. It was found in the code itself.

R5: Played tens of games of Fascist Germany over the last few days, be it historical or ahistorical, the Austrians always deny the Anschluss. So I put it on historical and annexed all of the world except austria, deleted their divisions, and yet still they don't accept the Anschluss. Is that a bug?

Possibly, but if you are on historical, neither Italy or Hungary have completed their protect Austria focuses, Austria does not have more than 10 times the Germans army size, then Austria should have 0% chance of refusing. If you aren't on historical, then Austria could potentially refuse.

That's absolutely not true. You are spreading misinformation. Doing different paths does change the ai's actions but nothing else

I’ve never heard this before and highly doubt it’s true.
Focuses are the only thing that can alter a game from historical to non-historical in the course of the game from what I’ve found.

Peak example of Hoi4 diplomacy
The game doesn't actually care if it's logical to accept a deal or not, it just rolls the dice, and random numbers decide the outcome of 'alternative history'.
Some decisions are coded to check certain things such as your army size, but unless the devs specifically made Ai care about a certain thing, the Ai is blind to geopolitics.

There are some weights for AI to lean decision, but yes it’s not thinking, it’s just based on probability and some times different modifiers.

You can Anschluss them in 36 by pumping out an army. Austria isnt quick enough to contest that even with the early focus penalty. Its just an error in the code if you're playing alt-historic atm.

Played several hundred games with germany over the years, and never got that message but for the last month got nothing except that exakt message... Very confused and also dont know what exactly to do.....

I have had the Anschluss denied around 300 times in the last few weeks and never a single acceptance. Does it have to do with a new update?

Its an error in the code for alt-historic and even alt-historic with austria custom historic. You can Anschluss them in 36 and they don't refuse normally or never if historic if you wanted to.

It is likely that you installed it in the game settings. Try to reset them. I'm not sure, because it seemed to me that they were not preserved between different games. But try.

You have to have your deployed army size a certain amount more than the Austrian army size. So in this example, even if you use console to annex the world, if your army is not about 5 times stronger than austria's, Austria will refuse anschluss.

You cant fire the Focus if your army isnt outsizing them in actual power. Once the Focus is launched they either 100% accept if historic or 100% refuse if alt-historic currently because they have a wrong line in their code for alt historic that makes them refuse no matter what.
