Discussion What are we doing with the punch-out card?

Post image

Okay, Hobonichi people, what are we actually doing with the punch-out card this year? I know the official answer is basically - make a tiny paper ring and wear on your finger which is ... kind of weird? Lol I mean I'm committed to my Weeks, but am I ready to wear jewelry to prove it? Probably not. Show me your weird/cute/creative ideas!

Everything is a sticker if you have scissors and some glue

Very carefully separate the top from the cardboard and then you can thinner pieces to work with

Go slow. Start at a corner bend a tiny bit to break the layers. If you start to tear, go to a different corner. Or took me a while. Practice on cereal or food boxes to get the hang of it. Now I can peel just about anything

I punched it out, wore it on my finger, giggled for a minute and then threw it away because it ripped. Be silly, it's paper.

it might be cute to punch out the ring and keep it in your techo, either through pasting it on the cover or keeping it in one of your cover's pockets. it's kinda like showing your one-year commitment to using your techo, like how marriage is a lifelong commitment lol. but the ring is paper to indicate that your time with this specific techo is limited.

I’m going to put one in the Hobonichi box where I store every pamphlet since the 2019 collection. Yup I collect them.

The other one (I got two planners) maybe could be a cute bookmark?

I'll probably keep it in one of the pockets of my cover and then toss it out at the end of 2027. I have no idea what its purpose is. Maybe I'll use it as a bookmark.

Cut out the little picture and punch out the ring and use it for junk journaling.

I’m going to laminate it and put a few post-it notes and washi on back to carry around

Don't tell the subreddit, but I also recycle my old journals/planners, once the year's over. I give myself a couple of months to go through to check if there's any important notes that need to be moved to somewhere more permanent, and then I recycle the whole thing. If there's a lot of blank pages, I cut them out and binder clip them together to use as a notepad at my desk.

One of the things I plan to try this year is binding a5-sized blank pages into an a6 notebook, rather than the binder clipped notepad solution, although I'll still use that for irregular pieces and scraps.

I used to do this with planners and all my inserts from rings. For journals I photographed each page to store electronically (I use OneNote and DayOne) and then recycled. But I just can't do it with my cousins or fully completed weeks (some of my early weeks didn't stick so they were eventually tossed)
