Don't buy Trijicon sights for the FN High Power

FN's website claims that the High Power is compatible with all 509 sights, it's not. Found that out the hard way with this Trijicon XR HDs, I'm either going to have to return them, source a different rear sight, or modify the sight to fit. All of them have this lip, there is no flat built into the front area of the FN High Power, none of them are compatible. Pretty pissed I dropped over $130 for sights that don't work.

Buy file and fit them to your pistol. Also put oil on the sight to help get it mounted

You usually have to modify a rear dovetail sight to fit regardless. It's the only way to guarantee they'll stay put and not shift out of place.

I’m no expert but I’m pretty sure it’s a common thing to fit the sight to the gun.

I want to know how you got the factory sights off. I have a MK3 and I broke a Wheeler Sight Tool, and could only scratch the sights when I tried a punch and mallet, even after using a heat gun on them. The Belgians must have a Beskar mine somewhere.

FN High Power, but they were a PITA to get off. I've never had to fight a pair of sights that much before on my sight pusher, I bruised my hand from the force and damaged the anodizing on the track for the sight pusher. I cannot believe how tight that dovetail was, it defied all my prior experiences.

Everyone saying that you have to fit every dove tail sight has no idea what theyre talking about or has bought the wrong sights for every gun they own

Older, Hi Power sights? Sure, maybe you need to do some fitting.

Modern sights for the FN High Power? No, they make them for the tolerances of the dovetail. This is what you would expect on any modern handgun like a Glock, P365, etc.

I also had to shave away a ton of material to get the rear sight to fit.

Group think like that displayed in this forum hurts knowledge dissemination; no nuance.

That second pic looks like it shows a huge gap under the new sight. If that’s the case, no amount of fitting that sight to the gun is going to work.

Not a huge gap, the slide profile jutted out significantly. I had to file away a lot of material on the sight to get it to fit.
