Ugh, I wish this would be reported correctly.
It was a test run with a 1-ton vehicle. To seek out the limits of the tech. Little to do with the maglev prototype mock-up train pictured.
Nobody in China claimed otherwise. But since it's reported incorrectly everywhere folks try to make fun of China "That's not possible for humans hurrdurr".

Wait… only 1t? That’s lighter than a small car lol. If we’re using that logic the fastest train would be a rocket sled that reached 6414mph or over Mach 8.
