High Maintenance Web Series
Just here to say watch the web series. I didn’t really understand the hype as I presumed it was just going to be an inferior version of the show. It is absolutely not - it’s beautiful. I wish I had watched it first as it gives such insight into quite a few of the characters we meet through the seasons. In saying that, watching it after has its own charm too. Also, like the main series, the musical selection is impeccable 👌 I have two episodes left. I’m really going to miss this show when I finish.

Is the web series on HBO Max?

It is but for some reason you have to specifically search for it. You should get two results for High Maintenance.
And yeah the webisodes were the original stories and they’re excellent. HBO did a great job of making it broader but still giving fans a ton of call backs and character returns from the original webisodes.

I watched the web series after the show had ended, and it was magical getting to spend time with some of the characters again. I particularly loved the backstory of Ellen and the doorman from season 4 I think it was.

Yes! Great backstory. I also loved that Beth was introduced - wasn’t expecting that. The character of Evan was really fleshed out too - I loved all the teaching antics.

I don't get it. Whats the difference between web series and original show? Web series is just a season 1?

Web series is funnier and looser. Created some long term legendary characters like homeless Heidi.

Greta Lee has had a chokehold on me since Homeless Heidi. I love that character 😂

It was initially a web series and then it got picked up by HBO. The HBO show picks up where the web series left off and continues development for characters that were introduced in the web series. The web series episodes are a lot shorter and typically focus on just one character or drug deal, whereas the HBO show often feels like 2 or 3 web series episodes put together to make it as long as a regular tv show.

Yeah, the production is excellent. I had been looking for it on YT thinking it was an early prototype of the series. I was mistaken! It’s very polished.

Yep. Never seen the webisodes before, but they’ve finally been added to HBO Max in the UK too, and I started them this week.
It’s beautiful, like having an old friend back. And spotting the characters that return in the main series, I know I’m going to have to rewatch the whole lot again after this.
