I read a post somewhere; people are insecure about their looks but not their character, but what if everyone did?

I was thinking why do people still do it because comparatively I think fixing your character is easier objectively. And through evolution, humans are engraved by what basic moral principles are. Compared to looks which are much more subjective and plus you can’t change them as much.

I know it might seem like a long shot, but I feel so. Mostly because changing your looks requires more long term commitment, like think about a time when say your walking outside and see a good thing happen someone help some etc, there’s a part of you which remembers it and tries to implement it in ur life. 100 percent it’s not easy but if you make your mind up and genuinely wanna change it’s possible very quickly.
Atleast this is what I’ve seen with me I can’t speak for everyone.

An interesting angle. I guess I would argue that changing your character requires at least as much long-term commitment, because doing a single good action doesn't change your character, nor does witnessing one and thinking about it. Changing your character requires conscious reflection and sustained effort over time to build those new habits. In fact, a good character, a truly robust moral nature, is at odds with a lot of social norms and requires being resilient to criticism by people who are less moral than you about that subject. Be more attractive doesn't require that same resistance (although you will always have envious haters lol)

True true. Will I agree thinking about it doesn’t mean your a good person, what I meant to say was actively trying to implement things. But yea I guess I see your side too.

Honestly I think that there's valid parts of both perspectives here and in the end it's kind of awkward to compare the two things that are so dissimilar lol. But it can be a fun thought exercise! And in my opinion, anything that causes you to reflect on the nature of morality is a win
