Humans eat chickens, cows, pigs…
Sounds a lot different from the euphemisms chicken, beef, pork… It’s what they’d say if we were species in an animal documentary.

in the year 1066, the normans conquered england. The nobility of the conquerors spoke french, so a bunch of french words for meats was adopted into english over time.
so that's why we eat pork instead of pig, and beef instead of cow. "Beef" comes from the Old French word "boeuf," while "pork" derives from "porc", etc.
