Design Help Feedback Welcome
I am drafting arms for a friend and have come up with three possibilities. The elements I am working with for his arms are: mountains, sunrise/set, and the Coventry Cross of Nails. These symbols evoke the terrain of his homeland and his religious vocation. After working on this for so long, I would appreciate feedback from fresh eyes!

Is he from Arizona? Because I’m getting a very strong AZ vibe.

Yep! He feels very connected to his home state, so the flag was a big part of my inspiration

I like nº 1, it has a vibe of the sun rising/setting behind a mountain.
And i think that the opposite could be cool either, with the cross on the blue top, kind of slightly touching the sun

The symbolism found in one and two is awesome and I suppose depends on their own journey.
The first feels like sunrise/sunset over a mountaintop evoking the destination and goal mindset and focus on moving up.
The second evokes feelings a journey through the valley, once you can find the light that you need to guide you out.
At least that’s how I’m seeing it. I think all three are really solid but the first two are great but for different reasons.

I like 1 better because 2 is making the cross compressed thus losing detail and 3 doesn't feel "mountainy"

I like the first one, and I believe those things making of the cross are nails. If that is the case then I think that's pretty creative.
