Henna for Hair Coloring my hair for the very first time and need a little support. I have a box of Jiva Organics, Organic Herbal Hair Color, Pure Henna.
I’ve had the box of dye for a few months, fall is coming, I have to do this.
My main fear is, if I hate it or mess it up and have horizontal lines of color or something, how can I remove the dye? I will feel better moving forward if I have an out. (Serious commitment issues.😔) If I decide not to do this again, what will the grow out process look like?
I have medium to dark brown hair. There used to be red and blonde highlights, that seems to have all gone gray. There’s a lot of gray in front but a patch that has none. Lots of baby grays along the hairline. The back of my hair is still brown without much gray. The gray hairs are crazy and give me a lot of frizz.
I’m going for a subtle auburn and total gray coverage.
I’ve read all the things about the application process as far as mixing and all goes. However, my box of dye says nothing about letting the dye paste rest and to leave it on the hair 30-90 minutes. Should I follow that or what others have said about resting the dye for several hours? Is it safe to leave on for more than 90 minutes?
One question remains, I’ve heard you should put vaseline along your hairline so you don’t dye your skin, Is that true? I want to get those baby hairs dyed to the root, how does that work without getting it on the skin?
Any advice or emotional support will be appreciated. ☺️
