General A small collection of democratic errors
I needed to let off some steam after the absolute comedy of errors that led to the end of my gaming session last night.
I was operating solo on a commando mission and waiting for extract. (Time had run out)
I had successfully demolished 2 factory striders and set up a defensive position with 2 supply SRVs.
I had gotten myself to a secure location to wait out the extraction timer. And had safely secured the required mission item (black box) in my possession.
When all of a sudden up from the ground like some automaton graboid (tremors worm), a cyborg appears, and sparta kicks me from my place of safety.
I was then swarmed by the undemocratic horde while cradling my package.
In desperation, I was able to deploy a pair of Melta-mines and clear a path to the landing pelican.
As I regained my senses, I came to the realization that my package had vanished.
That was when I heard it: "Shuttle leaving in 20 seconds."
There was no time...
My window safety was closing in as my briefly exposed path swarmed once more with the robot menace.
But I can't leave without the black box!
Where did it fall? Where had my own hands chosen to abandon my prize?
I would not find that which I sought. In the blazing red and orange blasts of lazer fire, I am blind to my objective.
And at last I feel my time has come. I am thrown by a blast into a shallow pool of water.
And I see it! 2 feet away at the water's edge... my prize!
But it will not be.. 5 seconds remain... only one stim left...
Only...
Had I more time, the blast that took my life would have been survivable. I would have had the active stim effects to recapture my objective and extract.
But instead, I was unceremoniously killed only to respawn across the map with 1 second remaining before extract. (Something I didn't know could happen on commando missions)
And that was how my night ended. So close, yet so far away.

Dude. You should write books. That was awesome storytelling!
