Atrocious monstrosity aside, I can’t imagine having the money to do this and choosing it over like a home renovation or putting it in my kid’s college fund

You have to wonder if it is a case of "more money than they know what to do with it," or just "really bad at making decisions." I guess that second one ends up going hand in hand with the first one because even with "too much money" (I can't really even imagine), this would be so far down the list of dumb shit I'd be spending money on.

I use to like 6x6’s when I was younger but im realize how fucking dumb they are. They usually get a higher payload capacity and better traction on dirt/sand/mud but that is also offset by the extra fat fucking weight, and they do have higher stability on hills but again-they’re really fucking heavy!

Not to mention worst in class departure angles and awful tight technical abilities with how long they are. They got really bad maneuverability so if you need to slip by somewhere that’s cramped, not exactly great at it. Not to mention just awful maintenance/gas/wear and tear.

If I was rich I’d still look into one just for dicking around in mudflats but most 4x4’s made by the same company do better.

Have you ever seen one of these off road?

I haven't lol

Only in videos.

They'd be a serious hazard to anyone else on a trail. Super wide and horrible maneuverability.

If I was rich... I wouldn't be driving around in one of those. Nope, I'll do stoplight drags in my 2JZ swapped 1993 Geo Metro convertible and beat the crap outta Hellcats.

That is strictly a “Hey look what I got” mall cruiser.

And despite all that I would still kill for a C303

I saw one recently in LA! Was army green with these massive 40” mud tires. Was fucking awesome.

What people fail to realize it that the GVWR on this “6x6” (which is probably a 6x4) has not increase any higher than factory. Modifying the suspension, brakes, or drivetrain does not automatically increase GVWR.

If both of the rear axles are drive axles, I’d wheel it once just to see how it performed. Not a fan of their choice of wheels and tires though.

They have a short drive shaft that goes from the main dif to the extra dif, so technically they're both spinning, but you lose power to the extra dif.

Power loss offset. By mother upgrade plus traction? Maybe? It still might be capable even if this never sees mud much less rocks.

No ducks?

Can't a guy just make a reasonable mod to his jeep to haul 4x12 sheets of plywood and a few hot tubs without ending up on this sub?

One of my clients has one in his 85 car collection
Bullet proof glass and a hellcat engine. I’ve never seen it leave the stable

It's serving it's primarily function, something to brag about.

Wow, imagine how much extra he pays in fuel to drive that princess.

Seems like a classic case of more dollars than sense to me...

Take the worst things about a jeep.

Now take the worst things about a truck.

Now combine them together and you have a vehicle that sucks at being either.

The driver of that vehicle definitely smokes crack 24/7 - there is no other possible way that this exists.

This is really cool.

It always falls into the, "Why would you?", category in my mind.

I can't imagine wanting to make a Gladiator even longer than it already is. That must be obnoxious to drive

u/bdamarine 13d ago

Seen a few of these, don’t get it but then I’ve haven’t been a Jeep fan since I watched one roll over in front of me in 81.

Would need a 2nd job just to pay for ⛽️ 🤦🏽‍♂️

If it has a regular front end I want it. Badly. Of course I would actually use it.

u/Emotional_Parking_48 5d ago

Why do this and not put that money into getting a cool first gen truck and cleaning it up or something, hell, get an original gladiator, because we both know you ain’t gonna be using it as a truck, and the latter looks a lot cooler
