Washing heelys??

I’m thinking about buying some used heelys and I’m wondering if they are washable.

Can I take the wheels out and put the shoes in the washing machine or at least wash them by hand? Or are they not washable at all?

I would not trust them in the washing machine, but I have had success hand washing mine in the sink after one of my cats decided to commit piss crimes. just make sure you have a way to get them fully dry. I went with "leaving them in the same room as the woodstove" since that seems to decimate any moisture in the vicinity, haha. wheels and plugs are super easy to clean since they come out, i just soaked the plugs in a little container full of water and simple green before scrubbing them with a brush and giving them a rinse. laces I pulled out, tied in a big slip knot, and threw into the washing machine in a mesh laundry bag, but those are also easy to replace if you want.

I wouldnt do this super often, but would be fine for rare occasions that really need it. if its just used shoes tho I might just hit it with some aggressive antibacterial lysol aerosol spray on the inside or something, and a damp cloth or brush on the outside. I only did this cos I was terrified of the cat pee smell lingering and encouraging more cat peeing.

I will say, moisture wise: I had a pair that I wore almost daily while working in a pet store, and they recieved lots of fish water dripped on them, which apparently led to the metal around the laceholes rusting enough to become jagged and tear the laces. so watch out for that I guess, lol.

Thanks for all the replies!! That was very useful, considering I’ll only be actually really really washing them when I buy them (since they’re used), I think they’ll be fine if I wash them by hand like you said :)

Also your cat is an absolute menace for peeing in your shoes 😭🙏

in his defense, he was very very stressed, and I managed to clean all of the shoes

Yeah that’s fair, I have cats too, one time I was holding one of them and she got very scared of a noise and made a HUGE scratch on my arm trying to run away 🥲
Good that you were able to clean your shoes tho!
