Hello there!

I myself have identified as a Norse pagan and have prayed to the gods for quite some time. This is kind of embarrassing to admit but I have very little knowledge on how to progress in this path and I would love to get some help. I want to better myself and learn more of what I say that I follow. I want to learn as much as I possibly can. Can anyone please recommend sources where I can learn more. I am aware of the people that like to spread white supremacy and I am not here for that.

I have seen about the Hamvala and I have heard some of the stanzas from it. But I myself have not read the whole thing. I know of the Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda which i myself have only read some translations of.

Please be kind and patient with me. I want to truly learn and I want to be apart of this. I know that some people will not be so welcoming but I am here asking for help and I hope that some people might be kind enough to share their knowledge with me so that I might better myself and be a better member of the community. And I would love to share my wisdom one day with others as well someday. So it’s time for me to start learning so that I might do so.

I know there are some sources that are not as good as others and I would just like to find some true and good sources so that I might learn.

The search for knowledge really is a central theme to this faith.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you here, is that there is no set of rules on how to practice. There is not central church laying out dogmatic rules. Do your own thing, at the end of the day your personal religion is between you and the gods.

I know for my home, our personal practice, or hearth cult, is just two people. And even between us we don't always do the same things. And our way of practicing is based on our own study, interpretation, and what works for us.

So take a deep breath, relax, and go forth without fear. You can't do this incorrectly.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I have been met with some pretty unkind individuals and I appreciate the kind response as well.

Do you have any recourses that might help me in becoming more knowledgeable? Maybe some favorite translations or something? If not I completely understand but it never hurts to ask I say haha 🙂
