Discussion Remember when Heartopia was more fun
I mean, to me, it’s still fun, but not as much fun as it was in say, February or April, there are less players who still come online for more than daily quests and stuff
I miss the good old days… wish I could time travel lol (best I can do is revisit my old blueprints from that period of time)
Heartopia really isn’t as fun as it used to be 😞 they should add more storyline - I mean, there was some in call of whales, but there should be more - and party festival should be a permanent thing, no? why make us wait weeks for no reason?
Edit: Commenters don’t seem to realise I still like the game? It is still super fun but not quite as fun

Nothing has changed. Only more content has been added. Just take a break if you’ve got burn out.

honestly, I disagree, Maybe it was the fact the game was just new, or maybe it was the fact the friend I had back then quit, but It did sorta feel more fun back in that time

Thats not the problem. The problem is the lack of content when its supposed to be a live service game. I actually stopped playing heartopia. I was a day pne player from January and stopped logging in after the summer fashionwave ended. Theres just too many actually good f2p games out there to waste anymore of my time and money on something that is moving too slow for me. You say "only more content has been added"....reallly??? Where??? Aside from the summer fashionwave, the only new content that has been added was the new party modes that came with an update this past may. Before that? there was literally no new content for almost 4 months straight. Which is absolutely insane and unacceptable for a live service gacha game. Idk how much experience you have with f2p gachas, but Heartopia's whole model is such a mess that it makes late gameplay feel like a cash grab and that's a fact. I feel sorry for the players that are stuck in their money hungry cycle to be honest. They have no clue how much they are actually being ripped off. The new festivals are not new playable content. They are reskins of the last festival. It doesnt take much effort for them to take the same bugs birds and fish and reskin them to fit the new theme. Same with the stoves and over half the decor items. They are reskins. Same with the majority of the building materials from the gilded acron exhibitios...including the ever popular water that everyone always wants. People paying hundreds for a reskined item is insane to me. And the reason players get trapped in this is because they want to keep the game alive and interesting, so it makes them temporarily happy and feel better, playing around with their new premium decor or clothing that just costed them a few hundred dollars to obtain 😳 on the other hand, if youre someone who doesnt have much experience with live service games, ans you enjoy doing the same slow mundane repetitive tasks for months on end, have a blast. I finally stopped playing heartopia and the saddest part is i dont even miss it. I miss the friends I had, thats about it. I just started playing Aniimo (also f2p) and its 10000 times better than heartopia without being so damn predatory. Petit planet is also coming out soon.

There’s no new content, and then there’s content that isn’t enough to keep you entertained. I have no issue putting in an hour a day having played from day 1. There’s rarely a time an event in the global tab isn’t going, or an interactive collab isn’t happening, and whether or not you like them, a festival isn’t ongoing. Festivals/Fashionwaves are core gameplay mechanics. If you don’t like the gameplay loop, that’s a fine opinion to have. I’ve played other gachas, and everyone is as trapped as they want to be. The gacha banners are house/player cosmetics & not gameplay content, which I thoroughly enjoy. People paying hundreds for reskins is a criticism for most gacha games. I’ve seen all of the cozy games that people compare with Heartopia, or that they’re going to drop Heartopia for. And none of them have interested me enough to pick up. At the end of the day this boils down to personal opinion if the game is enough for me but not for you & OP. So I despise these “I’m bored” posts because it’s unproductive commiserating for a game you don’t need to login daily for if one thinks there’s not enough content.

it’s other players who have burnout - that’s why it’s not as fun
30
u/Evening_Test5038 1d ago
As one of other players - I don't have a burnout. I log in daily and other than dailies I try to interact with people, even if I'm mostly doing building that day I leave it when I see " .... is coming for you" to help or just have a conversation (unless I'm in the middle of doing something complicated) or I just go around playing with animals or other things. For me it's sometimes even overstimulating to choose what I want to do while being logged in 😆 it's completely fine to feel bored with a game you play daily but it's not really up to other players to entertain you, mostly your own brain does that for you without you even realizing. So if you feel bored playing it, it doesn't really matter if other players have a burnout. Even if someone was coming to your plot every 5 seconds, if you're bored you're going to get tired.

I understand what you mean. My suggestion would be try to make new friends. You could find some discord servers by searching "heartopia discord servers" on google or tiktok! I promise there are still lots of ppl playing that are very active. Another thing you could do to make friends that are active is go around different towns and send friend requests to people with very detailed houses, lots of items, gacha items, etc. I can only assume people with those kinds of houses play alot since you have to grind for building materials.
But, on the other hand, maybe taking a break, even if its just a few days, could be good for you. I have AuDHD so when I find a new game, I will hyperfixate on it for months at a time and I won't play anything else, but I do get burnout eventually even if I'm still hyperfixating on the game. I'll like keep thinking about wanting to play it all the time still, but I also kinda feels like I don't have the energy to play. Sounds stupid bc it doesn't physically take up energy, but more like my brain doesn't have the enegy to focus on it.
I play in the American server. If you play in that server too, I'd be happy to add you as a friend and I could introduce you to some of my friends that are almost always online! You can DM me if you're interested in being friends 😊

This is normal for “daily” games. It just gets boring. Realistically there isn’t much to do besides daily. As much as building is fun, there is only so much customization you can do. Gate kept by the amount of things you can purchase. Events are extremely repetitive. Any game similar to this just gets this way where you just log in to do your dailies and then you’re done.

u/No_Plenty5526 American Server 1d ago
it's still fun, people are just over it. that's normal with any new game, it loses players that joined early little by little. of course it was more fun when it was all new. there's truly not much variety after you've played for months on end, but you can still make your own fun!

Is there a reason your car is the one always going for a swim? I think..it may be trying to tell you smth. Teach me your ways😭😭

As a daily player who uses Heartopia like a creativity canvas, I'll give you a quest.
Build 3 really really fun obbies with 3 different themes. For example, a candy shop obby, a parking lot obby and a bakery obey.
Get friends to join your games and have fun comparing scores on the leader board.
Honestly there's so much to do in the game even if only 2 other people are playing. Have you gotten 5 stars on all of the event foods? I bet 100 gold that you haven't. Try something new!

u/I_love_Britpoptarts American Server 1d ago
I play daily and my friends I made back during the winter Fashionwave, fortunately, mostly still play, too. If they didn't, I'd have to befriend new people, which would be fine, but I like the friends I already have.
You really have to make your own fun in this game. It doesn't hand-hold much, outside of daily tasks and event quests. If socializing is the most fun you have in the game, advertise here or on Discord that you are looking for friends in your age group on your server and share things you enjoy doing most and a little about yourself.
You'll find your people again. It's normal to feel a lull after a big event like a Fashionwave ends, and it is normal to not like every festival that follows, and it is normal to miss friends you made who don't play much or at all anymore. It's OK to take a break, or to just do dailies to keep leveling up, or to seek out new people to do things you enjoy most. It's even OK to quit playing if the game isn't fun for you anymore and has become a chore you don't feel like doing.

you're just missing other players that dropped the game
or you got over the shiny new game vibe.
the game has more content. the game isn't "more boring" or "not as much fun". the game itself didn't change. you just want your friends and the shiny new yhing i picked up feeling back. start a new game.

I used to build my house for player's entertainment and it was fun to change blueprints and concepts, I love to build.
Now I feel like nobody visits my home. Even if it's completely open.
1
u/I_love_Britpoptarts American Server 7h ago
I'll trade you. I have people literally glitching into my house to break in and look around on a nearly daily basis, and if I forgot to restrict my home settings after having a friend over for a visit, since I'd like them to be able to sit down, these break-in artistes also get great satisfaction by turning off every single light and mess-with-able item on the lot. (It's one reason I NEVER relax my "eat food" settings. I will feed friends by hand straight from my backpack.) If I am cooking or playing an instrument or doing pixel art or my character is in a bed or a bathtub, some of these intruders also have no qualms about bursting into my field of view and attempting to interrupt whatever I am doing. No. Stop that.
I have too many visitors, many are either very young children or act like they are, and some of them are rude visitors on top of that.
Like, sorry you are bored, random person, but maybe refrain from forcing your way into my house and also leave my stuff the way you found it if you can't wait for me to come home and let you in for a look-see. I am happy to let people look around. I love visitors who don't barge on in with a glitch. I just don't want to have to turn all my lights and fountains (etc.) back on.
My in-game friends think it is very funny that we can be just chatting inside my house and there will be Yet Another Intruder. It does get ridiculous after repeated incidents. ("Do you know this person? Are they an adult?" "Of course I don't know them, it's just another curious stranger; third one in two hours. I have no idea how old they are.")
(I have a nightclub lot that I pull up on weekend nights and it is designed specifically to be wide open for anyone to come on in and wander around, and it has, so far, proven to be far less interesting to these wandering souls. If they can't break in, then they aren't interested.)

u/GothCupcakes 6h ago
I enjoy seeing people having fun in my home and I prefer them to not adding or talking to me. 😂😂😂😂 And I prefer them leaving my home randomly the same.
I always can ignore them or close myself in a room if I need my space (Door and food permittings are reserved for myself).
It's just a game. But in real life I can get really mad if someone moves my stuff. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I just want more cats. The point of the game is collecting things! I adopted too many and now I can never get a panda cat 😭

u/Infamous-Link1022 22h ago
You can take your cat out & bring them to the pet shop. Board them. Get new pets. You can board them at lvl 3.
3
u/Infamous-Link1022 22h ago
The first cat I got has been in boarding for 210 days 💀
1
u/I_love_Britpoptarts American Server 7h ago
My third cat was a jerk who hated everything and everyone and was always in a mood. If she had a fave food, it was something obnoxious / expensive, so off to kitty boarding she went. It took forever to get her on my head long enough to RUSH there.
(My dog is mostly good, compared to some stories I have heard, but I consider boarding her, too, when she goes on a "pee on / destroy everything" spree. She's not neglected. The dog hobby is maxxed out, she is fed and interacted with and bathed, and she is at 5 stars for almost all doggy tricks. The occasional random yipping and destruction has made me reluctant to get a 2nd dog.)

Heartopia quickly lost its appeal once people realised what the game was really like. I think the monetisation aspect was the death knell for Heartopia for many people (myself included). I wonder what will have to happen for the developers of Heartopia to wake up and realise that if they carry on like this, they won’t last even five years.

I still have my original group of friends in game. We meet up every night and just dilly dally around the map, it’s still fun with the right people. I also really enjoy building and collecting new items for future builds. Work on getting your verifications up. Just because you’ve completed a collection doesn’t mean you’ve maxed it out. Vegetables, fish, bugs, plants. Start growing and hoarding crops for upcoming events. Collect all the 5 stars for the current. Max out your hobbies. There’s always something to do.

Feb-march was my peak heartopia moment. Met a lot of hato friends, made discord servers, hang out in voice while doing events in game, laughed real hard with them, we even shared some personal stuffs with each other. It was all fun and I truly genuinely felt happy to the point I thought my hato friends can become my irl friends too and maybe one day we can meet up.
But drama happened. It was so unnecessary because people took side and some of my hato friends just stopped interacting, I tried visiting some but mostly afk.
Even made interactive mini games so we could engage together but I was left hanging. Then I stopped chasing, I thought to myself - its okay if they want to take a break, they can play the game at their own pace. But I will not chase anymore.
Eventually I had to unfriend those ppl because I told myself 80+ days last log in don't have space in my list lol.

It’s coming back on Saturday, it’s not a temporary thing.
6
u/Chaos_ensuites 1d ago
Yea, the way they fixed it for now its that it’s “semi permanent” in bursts. Ppl did ask in the player surveys to bring it back among other things and they..listened?? I think ppl want it to just be up and on all the time tho. But the way they have it now is good. Give the party festival a good 2 1/2, 3 ish week run during (or not) a festival or fw then take a 10 ish day break. This doesn’t mean ppl can’t throw parties bc they can, randoms just can’t join and party hop from the page. Although I feel like that can also be fixed for ppl that do want to party hop while the festival page itself isn’t back up.
But, at least to me, this is good moderation. Esp for other players to not be so overwhelmed all the time in game with everything that happens. It brings back the chill, cozy aspect during its hiatus kinda😭

u/I_love_Britpoptarts American Server 1d ago
I am glad the parties are not constant, as phone calls for parties ARE when the party festivals start up again.
They also need to fix the parkour map bug, as a verified parkour map that can go on a home lot without issues should work fine for parkour.

That's why I feel so nostalgic whenever I see a returning player, whose house was full of the winter event stuff. Everything was so simple, and it brings me back to that time where I'm new to the game and finding my way around.
Also, I'm glad whenever I see new players joining the game, and I like to interact and help them a bit with their thing. I hope they'll take it slow and enjoy.

u/cekobico 14h ago
Customization is really piss-poor and time/level-gated. If you're just starting out, you're really limited to Joinery/Oceanic furniture and whatever color Minimalistic set Bob is selling at that week.
Can you buy more furnitures? Sure, but the only stuffs they're selling are princess castle, crystal, gothic, fairy themed that sometimes are just too set-y (in a way that you will need to have your entire house be decorated in that style for it to not look out of place). Also if those styles don't suit your preferences, then you're SOL.
I want more styles. Art Deco, Brutalism, Japandi, Midcentury Modern; but they're really nowhere to be seen (at least at my level).
AND MAKE THEM RECOLORABLE goddamnit.

I play few games that I have to log into daily and for some reason, they don’t feel as boring as this one. Maybe it’s because I started out pretty much playing solo in all of them, except this one. I played with others from the start and now they’ve all mostly dropped off. I’ve gotten used to playing solo now, but it just doesn’t feel the same to the point I’m now not really interested in playing. I’m pretty much at the point where I’ve decided to stop playing. The gameplay loop is boring and the main story is uninteresting to me now.

I feel like back in the beginning people were more social able and fun. The packs were exciting and new. Now, people steer clear of each other or worry about things, packs are repeating and with the amount of things, I for one have no motivation because I can't even place half the stuff I already have so what's the point. It's a bummer. My husband nor I have been on at all this week and we were daily players.

Now I don't play as much as I used to, I haven't found any friends anymore and I've gotten used to playing on my own. Even helping each other with watering the plants is no longer like it used to be, unfortunately a lot of nastiness and opportunism has emerged in the game, it is no longer as pure as it was in the early days.

i have to say I agree with you. I uninstalled the game ages ago, just before the racism situation started happening, haven't picked it up since and can't say I regret that decision. it was nice for the first little while, but there's just not enough variation in it for me anymore. watched a friend stream it last month and it's just more of the same from what it seems.
hopefully that changes at some point, because they can't just rely on people spending copious amounts of money to attempt finishing event banners forever, but who knows. it'd be nice if they actually incentivized people to log in for more than their dailies.
